Okay, so I picked up an old iMac G3 but it's only running 8.6 so.... I accquired OS X 10.3 install CDs, but I can't seem to burn the .dmg file or convert it to an iso file (in Windows XP). I have tried both MagicISO and UltraISO which are meant to handle dmg files but they both say 'Can't find the file or file isn't CD image file' Anyone have any ideas what I'm doing wrong? Any other converters or burners that may work?, EDIT - I have just managed to burn 10.3 to a disk but now the Mac is telling me 'This version of Startup Disk requires Mac OS 9.1 or later'. So I have to install OS 9.1 before I can upgrade to OS X? Is there not any way to directly boot and install from the CD as with XP?
Ugh and everyone says Macs are meant to be easier to use than PCs! >_>

    Help! Ta!

You can convert it to an iso file with IsoBuster
    http://www.isobuster.com/

and if you want to read/write etc, then go with TransMac
    http://www.asy.com/scrtm.htm

Naturally, they both cost to get full access (I think you can still convert with the trial version of IsoBuster). But im sure you have your ways of acquiring the full softwares by other means though [IMG]

What are the exact specs of the iMac? It may just need a ROM update.

    iMac G3 Revision 3 266Mhz, 256MB Ram (upgraded from 32MB), 6GB Harddrive (I have a spare 40GB I want to use instead though). Running OS 8.6.

Not the fastest thing on earth but it'd be great to get OS X on it. [IMG]
