Just recently I installed the new cIOSX rev20 as an upgrade from rev17 and now, whenever I attempt to
boot a backup from any backup loader, they just hang.

It's installed to slot 249 with IOS 57 as a base.

Before upgrading to rev20, I uninstalled rev17 through DopMii.

I have Hermes' 222 v4 and 223 v4 and they both work fine, although this does not.

Can anyone help me out?
I may have done something wrong, so if someone can point out a way I could fix it I would very much appreciate it.

I have tried USB Loader GX 1.0 r929, Wiiflow 2.1, and CFG USB Loader v57.

None of them work.

And they all worked perfectly before I tried to update.

I even tried to reinstall rev17 and it doesn't work now.

You do not need to uninstall any cIOS. Just install the newer/older one over the one installed before!

Testet with USB Loader GX (938) and USBLoeader_CFG (5.7 & 5.8a). Everything runs fine!

cIOS249rev20base57 on a 4.2e Wii.

I had a similar problem when going from rev17 to 19. Games would no longer work in GX until I updated the loader. As soon as I updated the loader everything was back to normal. I have since updated again to rev20 and everything still seems to be working (haven't tested all games) It does seems very worying that you still have problems after reverting back to rev17??

Is it possible that it's my hard drive?
I have a 500 GB Western Digital MyBook Essential hard drive.

I tried to load a retail game, Resident Evil Archives: Resident Evil and it worked perfectly with IOS 249 installed as IOS 57.
The same can't be said of the same game running of the HDD.

If it is the hard drive, is there anything that I should do to fix it?
Occasionally a message will come up claiming that I have a slow or bad hard disk.

Would reformatting the hard drive help? I currently have two partitions, a 175 GB FAT32 partition and a 293 GB WBFS partition.

Would it be a bad idea to try reformatting the entire drive as WBFS, or is it just broken?

I can access the FAT32 partition and WBFS partition just fine, and I can see a list of backups in the backup loaders that I have been using, they just won't load.

Which loader?
Try cfg USB Loader v58a.

very possible. might wanna try a nother drive, maybe get a small usb flash drive and try that temporarily to see if it works.
also just format the whole thing as FAT32 and convert your ISOs to .WBFS format. WBFS partitions are no longer needed

Backups running under 222 and 223 work fine.

I don't think it's my hard drive.

I've tried deleting 249 and 250 through ATD and it didn't do anything.
I've tried reinstalling 222, 223, 249 and 250 with the help of a guide.
While 222 and 223 work fine, 249 and 250, strangely, refuse to work.

I've tried CFG USB Loader v58a and it did not work.

I'm going to try and describe exactly what happens when I try to load a backup.

I select the backup and on CFG USB Loader & Wiiflow, the drive light flashes once, it claims to be loading and just sits there indefinitely.

On USB Loader GX the drive light flashes once and it fades to black as though it were going to load, but again, it just sits there indefinitely.

I don't know what I'm doing wrong.

Thank you all very much.

It's working now.

I had to create a primary FAT32 partition on my HDD.

It works great now.
