So I'm pretty much new to this, got a bunch of backups working, but I have to clarify something...

So some games skip an installation screen and just start playing directly from the external HD, but EVERY single game that does require an installation installs directly to my internal HD from multiman. Is this normal? My internal is only 120GB, and it's getting real crowded real fast. Can you not defualt installations to external? Now I realize some games require internal to work, but surely it can't be every single one, right? Btw I'm using the latest multiman.

This is normal. If a game installs data it'll be installed onto internal HD. Multiman can trick some game into thinking game data were already installed, but not all.

How do you get multiman to trick it?

By loading game using no-disc approach (/app_home/PS3).

Chances are you are already using this method.

Doing some searching around, I found the answer I was actually looking for. Just select the ExtData option in Multiman settings.
