Hi. Some years ago, a modification for SF643D that replaces the voice acting of th remake with that of the original N64 version was made, as a LayeredFS thing. The problem, is that LayeredFS is pretty slow, specially with what it seems to be audio files, and it causes constant stuttering.
So, I thought about just simply putting the files on the CIA itself. I had a number of problems with tools that are deprecated or simply abandoned, but I found that with NSUI I could extract a CIA, replace the files, and rebuild, which it did without apparent issues.
But then, after installing the resulted CIA on my 3DS, the game crashes on the Nintendo 3DS logo. Is there another step I need to take?
Luma created a crash dump file, but it's formatted "dmp" and I don't see what I can do with it.
Edit: People keep looking at this thread so I guess there is interest and may happen to other people trying to mod 3ds games.
I ended up discovering the issue: the dumps.
Instead of trying to mod a copy gotten somewhere else I dumped my own cart with godmode9, creating a Standard cia. Once I started working with a cia dumped that way, it worked fine.
This has repeated for every game I have tried to modify, so I believe something weird has to be happening with how most cias floating on the net have been created.
To un/pack NSUI is the simplest way for me.
