Industry leaker claims that the Nintendo Switch 2 will have backwards compatibility support

zeldo.png

Information on the successor to the Nintendo Switch has been hard to come by, as with the launch of a new console, Nintendo is keeping things to themselves for now. However, there's a leaker with a history of occasionally breaking news before official announcements get made. Industry insider Nate The Hate, who correctly knew that Game Boy games would be coming to Nintendo Switch Online months before it happened, but also reiterated plenty of Switch Pro claims, says that the anticipated Switch successor system will have backwards compatibility with Nintendo Switch games.

This comment comes after David Gibson, a research analyst, found that an electronic components company, Hosiden Corporation, has allocated 2 billion yen for spending on production, and 1 billion yen on automation, in the "amusement" department. Hosiden has worked with Nintendo for hardware in the past, supplying numerous electronic components for the Switch.

The Nintendo Switch successor was supposedly set for a 2024 launch, but was reportedly delayed in order to have a better launch title lineup. What we do know for a fact is that Tokyo Games Show is taking place this month, and that Nintendo will definitively announce their new hardware before the end of this fiscal year.

Wonder how they'll lockout the Mig..

They already flattened the earthand many resellers...
.. which is how I got mine for cheap.

Its a marvelous drinkcoaster.

As for SwitchyII&Knuckles:

You better bring me the backwardscomp Furukawa or I'll dust off my SteamDecky...

(Wait.. Gbatemp displays users age now ?
Presumably so you can claim "old hag" status easier ?!)

I don't quite get the expression, could you elaborate what do you mean by

That whole Mig cart thing still requires to pop it in and out to show a different game? I wouldn't bother buying that, I'd get a Switch chipped.
Believe there was a 2nd revision in the works to add a toggle switch to change between games. Haven't heard any more news so far as to whether it had released or not.

It means Nintendo started suing resellers etc in an attempt to subdue.

A Mig Switch isn't worth it, unless you're a collector. A modchip can do way more, allowing homebrew and custom firmware on the console. In the near future, I believe that there will be a firmware update released to integrate additional cart checks and block unlicensed carts, which includes flashcarts such as the Mig.

No one saw that coming. Nintendo Android 2 with exclusives.

But in fairness, the current and last generation PS and Xbox consoles are PC's with exclusives.

Zero chance for a 2 to be call a lame pro level improvement. We all know pro means they want just a little bit more of your money. Calling it pro would be the downfall of Nintendo.
Geez, I was just making a joke, I know Nintendo would not make that mistake again. That's why they will probably actually call it the Super Switch Virtual Boy Edition U...

I just learned that there is such a thing as New 2DS XL. Nintendo wasn't the smartest kid on the block. I strongly recommend Nintendo just use the number 2 instead of trying to be smart. Or they can call it New Switch and be screwed with the next one.

it would be nice to have two screens back. I can't play visual novels using only one ;_;

All I want for the new console is for Nintendo to finally step up their a game and put everything from their collection to their new console. They literally can do that if they've done it with the Wii and the WiiU, but they decided to take a different approach which I kind of respect. It gives a sense for others to try these games and to even make trailers for games that are coming back. Starfy for instance.
i completly agree. i also want all my switch cartridges to work on switch 2

The rumor already said it is LCD. You can already start brooding, don't wait, it will only be more painful later.
there is absolutely nothing wrong with LCD especially if its IPS screen. switch one is excelent.

If the screen is 1080p with real HDR, then it'd probably be a little better than 720p OLED.

So Nintendo will go the sony way and only upgrade the Performance and call it a day?
Cant believe this.
Nintendo never had released a successor that had only performance upgrades. In between the generations yes, like 3ds and New 3ds. But between all consoles we had mayor differences. Unlike sony or ms who are building the PlayStation 1 / xbox original with 4 performance upgrades.

If the new device is nothing more than a switch on steroids, i think this will not work well.
And maybe a switch with a detachable second screen? Cant wait to stop laughing. Gimmicky but not good.

Maybe its too early, but if i sum up all "leaks", this will be the next big fail from Nintendo.
