Yes, the Acekard firmware needs to be flashed for 1.4.1.
If you buy it from shoptemp, they provide an option to do it for you.
You can do it yourself if you have another ds.

Dude i have a ds lite and a dsi XL and boy i can't look to my ds lite anymore ;that tiny little thing good for nothing, if you buy the dsi XL you'll see. the 2 bigger screens is awesome man, i'm very happy whith the dsi XL and an acekard 2i and i'll buy the 3ds for sure...

ps: the screens of dsi XL are bigger than the 3ds, i woud like to know WHY???
