Homebrew I'm sorry for posting again, 3DS no longer turning on

after following until iv:step 3 https://3ds.hacks.guide/installing-boot9strap-(soundhax) my 3ds went to a black screen and stayed like that for a minute. i turned it off and then on again and it stays black. my firmware is 4.5.0. is it bricked?

Revert to Luma3DS v9.1 for the sdmc:/boot.firm.

Copy and paste / overwrite the SD card's boot.firm with the one from Luma3DS v9.1.

Since this occurrence is not uncommon, I went ahead and posted a GitHub issue.

• Soundhax not compatible with Luma3DS v10.0.1 and 3DS firmware 4.0-4.5.

Black HOME Menu icons can indicate data corruption. A title with a black icon might have a missing banner or fail to launch.

To check f the SD card is fake or failing:

1. Copy everything off the card.
2. Reformat in FAT32 + 32 KB cluster size using Windows File Explorer or guiformat (if bigger than 32 GB).
3. Full Write + Verify the empty card with H2testw.

Any reported error requires replacing the card and going back to step 1.

Another cause is improperly deleting titles directly off the SD card without using the correct methods:

Correct:

• FBI → Titles → Example Title → Delete Title And Ticket
  
• System Settings → Data Management → Nintendo 3DS → [ Software | Extra Data | Downloadable Content ] → Example Title → Delete

Wrong:

• sdmc:/Nintendo 3DS/<ID0>/<ID1>/title/000400XX/ → delete the individual 00####00 TitleID subfolder by computer or GodMode9.

If nothing was determined wrong, use Cthulhu to refresh the icon cache.

• Cthulhu:
  • Shared icon cache management. → Clear shared icon cache.
    
  • HOME Menu icon cache management. → Clear HOME Menu icon cache.

Black icons may appear on low firmware versions. A normal online update should make them go away.

I don't know if Gateway usage in the past has an impact on that though.

I've never encountered a limit to how many games can be installed at once, but remember: you can only have 300 icons on the home menu. if you go over that limit, those games won't appear until after you delete some.
