I'm so disappointed in Nintendo's next console

The real issue is Nintendo playing the hybrid game. They should release an actual home console with a power supply & better active cooling with higher clock speeds. Their portables should use cut down/under clocked hardware. Portables are for children. Grown adults that work, pay their bills, raise their children will rarely find themselves in a situation where they will have the time to play a portable. Grown adults are more likely to be at home in front of a TV when they find themselves in a situation to play games. The Switch was nothing more than a joke. Struggles to run games at acceptable resolution and frame rate.

The hybrid game was actually genius in its simplicity. The mobile market consumed the handheld market, and Nintendo got the wake up call. They developed a console with manageable handheld capabilities, gave it an acceptable amount of power, sold it at a reasonable pricepoint, and bombarded it with quality software. They've even supported the Switch years above the average lifespan, so you know they're trying to maintain a good reputation.

The Switch 2 will probably be nearly identical to the original Switch because the strategy worked. The tech worked. The marketing worked. Nintendo doesn't want to gamble their primary market, so the hybrid game may very well bleed into the Switch 3 and 4. (If only tech were that easy to predict) It'll be interesting to watch.

I could go on for ages about Nintendo's prior and current business strategies.

The exact same e-shop would run miles better on next generation hardware I assure you.

Trouble is they'll likely introduce a horribly bloated new e-shop replacement.

I miss the Wii U eShop, that had the best interface, and some banging music that surprised you when you loaded it up for the first time in a while and it had new music.

Literally every controller that gets released have those but Nintendo's, and we are really going to argue in God's near-2025 if analog triggers are useful or not as if that case wasn't immediately settled decades ago ? Are we going to argue if a 2nd stick is useful too ?

I still see no reason to not implement them if not potential (minor) costs and maybe repairability ? But considering the quality of the joycons, that wouldn't be a huge trade

I'm not a father yet but damn, what a take
There's surely a pretty good amount of people who do enjoy playing a few hours on the couch. There's also a pretty huge amount of people who like spending some time playing Zelda in bed
Also pretty sure that the biggest market for consoles and video games overall is .... younger people. Not necessarily kids or teenagers, but at the very least young adults. I don't see why Nintendo of all companies should suddenly shift their focus to « grown adults that pay their bills and raise their children »

They literally just admitted it's going to be New 3DS again.

This means a lack of themes, folders that are almost useless, a bland and boring HOME menu, and a laggy eShop for another 7 years - just with slightly better hardware and some new button inputs.

I feel it is more the community that has disappointed you. Next to nothing is known about this hardware and you are basing this off of what the community and leakers said it will be. It's wrong to form an opinion on something before you can experience it yourself. If this community is known for 1 thing it is setting high expectations that were never confirmed to be true.

It's rather the opposite way around, I hear adults giving the Steam Deck nothing but praise because it finally allows them to play games they've missed out on, when they normally rarely ever have time to play on PC or home console because any time they are home they are busy with other things like taking care of their family. It's much easier to find the time to play on a handheld which you can bring with you anywhere and is quick to whip out any time you have some spare time.

I wish the included the built-in RPG from the 3DS though, some kind of gaming with travel rewards would be nice. (Meeting people like StreetPass to use in the built-in RPG)

Trust me, I too wish for a more substantial successor, but this is like saying that the 3DS is « just an update because it could use NDS cartridges, we're not going to get themes because the DSi never got them !! »
