i want to buy a second hand wiiu but the region is come from japan... seller said: the language is japan but you can play english game fine... he offer the wii u is ready to play with backup loader... but my question is: 0. can i update the console to the last firmware when it was hacked? 1. can i change the wiiu main language to english? 2. is that safe to play online when the wiiu was hacked? 3. can i add more games with external hdd/usb? 4. is that safe to buy a second hand wiiu? [i mean about the risk of broken] thanks!
0. Yes. But there is no reason to update. 1. I dunno. 2. Yes. Totally safe. 3. Yes. 4. Make sure cbhc isn't installed. Or buy a "clean" unhacked console.
Anytime you buy something used there's always a risk the seller knew it was broken and is trying to rip you off no matter what you're buying. If they're local to you I would ask if you could come to their place or they could come to your place to test it before buying.
btw what is chbc? and this seller only sells wiiu that has been hacked because most of the buyers here don't know how to pirate the game console. but maybe I could ask the seller how he hacked wiiu. thanks for your advice, but i believe at this seller because hey only sell second console fromjapan, and they refurbish it.
I don't know how you'd change the main language to English. I don't know how that's taken care of. that's if it's not an English unit.
I dunno. I don't know how it gets language. making it region free doesn't affect that. it may be an option in system config tool, but you'd have to be mighty careful especially with the wii u having no way to correct system software errors. I know that if you goof up region hax, there's no way to repair it, because nothing, not even the browser, will open. luckily, I didn't. I made a backup of the original file, but I haven't put it back on there. I thought to leave it as is as it's not hurting anything, and it's been that way for years.
i mean, like wii console is very easy to change the system language. just download and install the system from nus downloader so wiiu is dont work like that?
nothing like that that I know of. the wii also has brick protection to an extent. the wii u doesn't. I'm sure the language is based on an xml somewhere. you could try stuff out with rednand at no risk. — Posts automatically merged - Please don't double post! — there is a way to download system software apps and pieces to do things like spoof, but it can be dangerous, very dangerous in this case, since we don't know what causes a certain language to be default.
the virtual wii is probably more time-consuming to hack than the wii u. however, all things with the wii u are pretty easy. just be careful with anything that involves making changes to the system software (i.e. cbhc, region hax, etc). those can brick your system if used incorrectly.
thats clear enough. i never can change my wiiu language from japn to english. i always need google transate hahaha.........
it's possible that may be part of just the system software in general and not part of an xml. if that's the case, it may not be possible to change. I mean how like you E, U, and J after the system software version, just like how the 3ds does it. however you change it would probably be very dangerous, possibly no way to fix it unless you made a nand backup from before the procedure then used a teensy.
@BaamAlex sorry i bumped my old thread.. if the seller sells the wii u with CHBC install, is it safe for me to buy it? — Posts automatically merged - Please don't double post! — how can i add games with usb drive on wiiu? what kind of app should i get [i mean like wiibackup manager for putting games]
Depends... The previous owner can "delete" cbhc. Pretty easy. He unlinks his account. And this should never happen when cbhc is installed. It can brick the console.
You need a SD card to copy the games on, then install them to the HDD with https://sourceforge.net/projects/wup-installer-gx2/ Keep in mind, the way CBHC autobooting works is, if you interrupt the autoboot by holding Home and boot into HBL instead, you won't be in CFW, so you'll be unable to install homebrew titles and DLC. Retail games don't need CFW to install/run, but in order to install DLC and eShop exclusives, you need to let it autoboot into CFW and then launch HBL.
