Why not just record the sound off your 3DS through the headphone jack, or through an emulator? It might not be a perfect digital copy, but does it really need to be?

How do I record through the headphone jack? Do I just get a Male to Male cable and plug my 3ds to my PC?

Your best option is to get a dump of the game and extract the RomFS, then look through the audio files until you have what you want. Given it'd be classed as copyrighted material, the file itself can't be posted here.

How else would you do it..?

It's possible the sound is synthesized and not stored directly as audio data, or it might be stored in some other format that is not immediately recognizable.

That thread is eight years old and there are much easier ways of accessing romfs now. (Braindump might not even work with current firmware or Luma.)

Why not just use the original controller you ripped apart? Cool project but seems like a waste. I made my own controller/ fight stick for switch using an Arduino, and even uploaded my code here on a forum.

True I guess, to each they own. I know I've made some projects in the past that are cool to me, but others are like wtf.

Generally most of the "let's cram stuff into other stuff" projects are learning experiences, they're not meant to result in an actually useful product. But you learn a lot.

I made myself a soundboard handheld w amplified speaker and 3d printed a case with 10 buttons. Loaded it with bird sounds. I sit on my porch alot and use it to talk to the birds, and they respond back to it. I think its cool but wifey thinks I'm crazy.
