At the time I though Genisis was Sega's only machine, I didn't even believe in Sega Saturn until Dreamcast was out.

Good! Saturn is a myth! It's your fault SEGA went out of business, not believing in their most prized rushed-out-the-door console! I bet you didn't get a 32X or SEGA CD either, did you!? We could have had a Dreamcast2, but NOOOOO!
Oh, what could have been.

You said you didn't know about the Master System's existence until 2001-2004. I assume you were not a kid at that point?
Sega Genesis is not a Master System? O.o
I wasn't aware of Intellivision, Colecovision, 3DO, or Neo Geo. As a child of the 90's I only knew of Atari, NES, SNES, Gameboy, N64, VirtualBoy, Genesis, and PS1. it wasn't until the internet that I learned more about video game past. Its not like school teaches you that in history, I didn't see my 1st gaming magazine until like 1998.

@Elrinth They kind of look familiar, but my bells aren't ringing.

Astyanax?

Okay... Similar to Ghosts and Goblins and on the NES?
Here's a list.

-Castlevania
-Castlevania 2: Simon's Quest
-Castlevania 3: Dracula's Curse
-King's Knight
-King's Quest V: Absence Makes the Heart Go Yonder! (Don't know what happened to the other 4... Looked up the list of NES games, this was the only one listed)

That's all I can think of right now.

How is a topdown game called King's Knight and an adventure point n click game called King's Quest 5 similar Ghosts N Goblins where you run in a sidescrolling environment and throw lances?

But then again, the author of this thread might be as openminded as you and in the end the game he was searching for was called tetris.

All the non-side scrolling/non-platformers were wrong.
I distinctly said Ghosts N' Goblins like you had said.
I'm just letting people suggest whatever so I may google images of it.
Its alot like Ghost n' goblins but I remember a different protagonist sprite and easier difficulty.

Well you've blown off GnG, Hydlide, all 3 of the Wizards and Warriors, Astyanax, Deadly Towers, Sword Master, Frankenstein, Faxanadu, Castlevanias, Kings Knight or Kings Quest 5.

It's sorta armor, has a sword and a shield at least. Less pretty than a few, prettier than Wizards and Warriors -- what about Trojan?

Well perhaps your game doesn't actually exist, was another region, some lame hack, or you've confused a game for another system for the NES as that's possible.

I've never heard of King's Knight or King's Quest. I thought they were sidescrollers.

King's Knight is a vertical scroller, like Commando. King's Quest 5 is a PC conversion of a slow moving adventure title like Indiana Jones and Monkey Island where you figure out clues, find items, and move forward where anything in a random area could be your death.
