Ok,I'm going to buy a Wii this week but I need some questions answered...
First off I already bought the CycloWiz Ver2 and my Soldering tools and everything
I heard the rumor that Wii's are now being made with 3 point slots or something...
Do you think I have a chance on not getting one like that? I'm going to buy my Wii this week.
Secondly I'm going to start downloading game from Torrents but I'm Confused...
Whats with all this PAL NSTC or whatever thing?
I live in USA CALIFORNIA Whats label game should I download?
PAL?
Thanks for the help guys

You should be downloading NTSC-U releases because those are for your region. PAL is meant for european Wiis. You may still download the PAL ones though, but not all of them will work on your Wii if you don't patch them.
and there's a pretty decent chance that you get the newer Wii's with 3 legs cut off, you can still mod it though, but the chance of fucking up your wii is pretty big now.

We'll here in Toronto, most Wii's bought after May 24th or so have the 3 pins hacked off. I'm guessing that will be the same with Wii is California. There is a high chance you won't be able to mod it without having a hard time. On a scale from one to ten, chances of you getting a hackable Wii are 0.5/10

LU51513 = Modchip Friendly
LU51519 = Modchip Friendly
LU51525 = Modchip Friendly
LU51545 = Not Modchip Compatible
LU51547 = Not Modchip Compatible

The Wii serial Number format is LUXXXYYZZZ [A]

Kinda hard to explain. This is how I think it works.

XXX=a three digit number that is a indicater of the date of purchase. Mine for example is 508 which indicates a purchase mid April. I think something like 100 (if it exists) would be a early Wii, like Nov/Dec '06.
YY= a two digit number. 00-99 I'm guessing.
ZZZ= Three numbers. Don't know the importance.
[A]= A number in a box (0-9)

If you get a Wii beginning with LU51545 or higher, no point in keeping because it can't be modded.

    @SylverReZ, I also heard one of the Prince of Persia games was so unfinished that it required the "24/7 online" drm so a puzzle could be done and the game could be finished. And that when the Ubisoft servers were closed the (cracked) game was impossible to finish or something like that
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
    @Xdqwerty, That's extra scummy. Ubisoft nowadays ship out incomplete games like Skull and Bones which was being worked on for nearly a decade now.

    I like that games can be fixed after the fact, hate that it's being abused via beta tests... And DLC... I was a 7800 owner back in the day and loved Impossible Mission, turns out I couldn't beat it because it was actually impossible lol

    I never knew about it at the time but a fixed version was available but you had to mail in your broken copy lol
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
    So that version is semi rare
