HARD MOD! It alleviates any risk, as you can make a backup at the hardware level on any firmware. The only way to block it is with a hardware revision.
But you can do the hardmod after a brick right (if a brick were to happen during the process)? I mean if it worked flawlessly the first time, then there would be no need for an actual hardmod, which would be ideal as I want to spend as little money as possible.
