Everyone's favorite gaming outlet, IGN, has begun a list of what they think to be the best role-playing games of all time. Right now, it shows entries for 100-81, and the list will continually update throughout the weeks until they get to #1. The current list as of writing is:

  • 100 - EverQuest
    99 - Wizardry 8
    98 - Titan Quest
    97 - Fable II
    96 - Torchlight II
    95 - Pillars of Eternity
    94 - Front Mission 3
    93 - The Bard's Tale
    92 - Betrayal at Krondor
    91 - Freedom Force
    90 - Divinity: Original Sin
    89 - Dragon Age: Inquisition
    88 - Darkest Dungeon
    87 - Ys Book I & II
    86 - Kingdom Hearts II
    85 - Chrono Cross
    84 - Dragon Warrior VII
    83 - Final Fantasy
82 - Ultima Underworld: The Stygian Abyss
    81 - EVE Online
With Divinity: Original Sin, Pillars of Eternity, Kingdom Hearts II, Chrono Cross, and Dragon Quest VII so low on the list, I can only imagine the insanity to come. Get your pitchforks ready, and watch the list below for updates.

Lists like this seem kind of pointless. Everyone has their own top lists. Although these are good for getting opinions of which rpgs people should play.

Although I am curious as to where DeS, DS, DS2, BB, and DS3 are.

IGN makes a lot of "Top XYZ" lists, it's just an opinion based thing, not really a "THESE GAMES ARE GOOD THIS IS FACT" type thing.

As for the list so far, I dunno how Divinity Original Sin isn't higher in this list. Whoever is making it has shit taste confirmed ;O;

Lists like this are usually nice to just look through, not necessarily for the ranking, but just to see if there's good games you haven't heard of/played before.
List is already trash.
They put ff1 over kh2
Hey, FF1 was a lot more influential than KH2. That said, if I had to pick one of them to play nowadays... yeah.

No. I dislike this game too. Most overrated JRPG from PS2 era imo.
I think gameplay was generally good, but those triangle commands make boss battles too linear patterned and the storyline was confusing and filled with 'to be continued in BbS'. I was really disappointed with kh2. I do kinda understand people who like this game, though.
