if your gamepad ever got lost, stolen, or broken. How would you get another one?

They don't sell these separately at the store. Would you be forced to buy a whole other Wii U? Could you buy one separate from Nintendo?

Nintendo sells them separately, you'd have to contact support. I believe they are sold for $100? Not worth it imo, even as much as I love my gamepad

Are you talking about their online storefront or do you have to call in? Either way I don't see that option.

Nintendo does sell them, if not I'm sure some repair workshops or some second hand sellers might have some.
I know a place where I used to work in my city which does sell them, you can just get one and sync it with the console just like a Wiimote.

There is no guarantee of the gamepad region. However this may be a good thing as a Wii U will refuse to update if the gamepad region does not match the console.
