Question not worth for a thread in the Politics Forum. But still curious on popular opinion.

Imagine that somehow, you have the ability to remove from the Internet the entirety of content from one Nation.

I would definitely choose to remove the USA's online presence in it's entirety.

No more Twitter, no more Facebook, no more TikTok, no Kiwifarms, no Reddit, and all that comes with it (SJW matters, "Cyber bullying", Internet "Personalities"... you get the idea)

Edit: I'd separate China too.

China, and by that Mainland China, because of the government's shifty ways and corrupt mannerisms. Some people fail to realize (or at most only partially) realize) that China too has its own Cyberwarfare unit. These Psy-op and disinfo agents are often called Wu-Maos. It is a major fucking error to point the finger to Russia, yet give so much fucking guff and pull out puff pieces to the ""People's'"" Republic of China. You don't get much freedom to choose where to live in the PRC, And you can get in deep trouble for publicly saying so much as lightly critical stuff about Xi. Both Russia and China have their shares of corruption for sure, but Russia, even with Putin and his closest cronies still largely in power, Xi Xingping is more of a Killer with his suppression of the Uighurs, taking away Hong Kong's freedoms and Tibetans and their respective cultures. Also, at least in Russia you don't need a permit to

If not China, then definitely Israel. They stole many US state secret, and also deliberately attacked the USS Liberty in 1967. They also control many aspects of the USA's political system, and arguably more so with many of the member nations of the EU, as well as Turkey and Canada. Not to mention how they've been making excuses for what they've been doing with the Palestinians in both West Bank and Gaza Strip.

Well I hate the internet and everyone on it so the best choice would be to remove the presence of whichever country invented it and by extension that removes it from everyone else.
I had originally wrote a long thing trying to figure out how to nuke the internet but a problem I kept encountering was that if one country didn't develop it some other country working on a similar thing probably would have. So the best way to get rid of the internet is to get rid of whichever country invented computers, but then you have the same issue with many countries having similar ideas around and before the time that Turing was working on his stuff. What is the one thing that computers and therefore the internet could not exist without? Mathematics. If we remove ancient Greece's contributions towards the internet we not only wipe out the internet but thousands of years of human development since those things inevitably lead to the internet when developed further.

LLMs can be run on cpu anyway but it's quite slow

Have you ever been beaten by a wet spaghetti noodle by your girlfriend because she has a twin sister, and you got confused and fucked her dad?
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I had a girlfriend who had a twin sister and they would mess with me constantly.... Until one chipped a tooth then finally I could tell them apart.... Lol
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
They would have the same hair style the same clothes everything... Really messed with my head lol

@The Real Jdbye, I could see AMD trying to pull off the CPU GPU tandem thing, would be a way to maybe close the gap a bit with Nvidia. Plus it would kinda put Nvidia at a future disadvantage since Nvidia can't make X86/64 CPUs? Intel and AMD licensing issues... I wonder how much that has held back innovation.
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
i don't think nvidia wants to get in the x64 cpu market anyways
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
you've seen how much intel is struggling getting into the gpu market
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
and nvidia is already doing ARM
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
i don't think they want to take more focus away from their gpus
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Yeah I think Nvidia s future lays in AI GPU acceleration stuff if they can get that going it's going to be super interesting in the long term

AI assisted game creation might become a thing

At least that's something I think would be pretty cool.

Many TBs of assets and the programming of something like that is going to be tough but I think it's something we might see in 20 years maybe sooner
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@Psionic Roshambo AI assisted game creation is kinda already here, there was recently that AI that can turn any 2D image into a fully modeled 3D object, it's not perfect, but it's a starting point, beats starting from zero

  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
before that there was one to generate a fully modeled scene from a 2D image

  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
but most recently, there was one that actually generates a working unity scene with terrain and textures already set up that you can import right into unity, that's a huge time saver right there

and using LLMs to generate NPC dialogue and even dynamically generated quests is something i'm sure is already happening
