Hacking If I Buy a Used Wii, How Likely is it to be pre 4.3?

What are the odds if I buy a used Wii and it'll be 4.2 or earlier?

pretty good i imagine, depending on when the wii was sold to the store you got it from. if they sold it sometime within the last few months it could have 4.3 on it.

I got mine used and it had never been updated.

Given the typical Wii user, I'd say the chances aren't too high, definitely there, but not like 90%. Most don't care about updates or new games (wii sports ftw?), and then there are the people who don't have wifi.

Very high. Working in a games store myself, I see a lot of Wii's traded in. Whenever I test them, they're almost always on 4.1 - A lot even being on 3.2 or .4

I've yet to see one that's 4.3, as there's simply no reason to.

I apologize for going off topic, but there is NO WAY you can make that claim. How on earth would you be able to make that outrageous claim? Just because YOU have some pirated music/programs/games, doesn't mean other people do too.

Again, sorry for going off topic, it just always annoys me when pirates try to make themselves feel better by claiming everyone has warez on their wii/computer/whatever.

theres just no way he pays for EVERYTHING... nobody buys music thats for sure... i dont know 1 single person that pays for and downloads music from itunes. and NEVER from anywhere else.

i just dont like the way he puts himself up on a pedestal like hes soo much better than the rest of us filthy pirates.

@OP, If you buy a used wii from a game shop then it will most likely have 4.3 on it. If you buy it from someone, like off of craigslist or from some other individual, I would assume the chances are low.

BUT... Go to a gameshop instead. Take a look at this thread and ask to view a few wii's (they can't refuse that unless they dont want your money), and compare the serial number to the ones listed in the thread that I linked to and try to find one with a vulnerable boot1 so bootmii can be installed to boot2.

that is a very big understatement. piracy and music buying CAN get along, just because some people dont buy any music whatsoever does not mean that people in general do not

i actually do buy music but i dont deny i dont pirate any either ;p
