Ok so I have been thinking about this for a few days now......Everyone is talking about how global warming will raise the sea level. My question is if EVERY human died, how much would the sea level raise? Here are the rough numbers

6 Billion People on Earth
Humans are 60% water
Average weight for a human (160lbs)
A Gallon weighs 8lbs

60% of 160 is 96lbs water

96lbs of water is 12 gallons

12 gallons times 6 Billion is 72 Billion Gallons

Now this is where I am having trouble.......How many gallons is needed to raise the sea level 1 foot.....

Still a crude estimate could come from simple sphere volume.
4/3.(pi).radius^3 is volume of a sphere. Get worlds radius and work it out.
Add 1 foot to the radius, rinse and repeat.

1ft³ = 12in x 12in x 12in = 1,728in³
1 gallon = 231in³ / 1,728in³/ft³ = 0.1337ft³
1 ft³ = 7.4805 gallons

Surface area of earth's oceans = 4 x 3.1416... x (20,924,640ft)² x 0.71 = ~ 3.9064 E 15 ft²

Therefore:

3.9064 E 15 ft² x 7.4805 gallons/ft³ = 2.9222 E 16 gallons/ft to cover the earth's oceans

or

29,222,000,000,000,000 gallons/ft

1,000,000 millions 10^6
1,000,000,000 billions 10^9
1,000,000,000,000 trillions 10^12
1,000,000,000,000,000 quadrillion 10^15
or

29.22 quadrillion gallons/ft

The water extracted from dead humans would raise the level of the oceans by your calculations:

72 billion / 29.22 quadrillion/ft = 0.0000025 ft

or

0.0000025 ft x 12in/ft = ~ 0.0003 in

or

~ 3 ten-thousandth's of an inch.

Not much. Less than the thickness of a piece of paper.

Goes to show you how big the earth is and how puny humans are... even 6 billion of 'em.

Yes this is what got me thinking about this!

I honestly only think the human race only has about 200-250 years left before we die out.

There would also be a decrease in the rate of global warming if humans were gone.

I've seen some sites where it says that if all people would happen to disapear pink donuts will take over.

Somewhere between 45 to 75 percent of the body weight, depending on how much fat or muscle tissue your body contains.
