Hacking I was given 2 flash cards and a New 3DS LL.

I have a New 3DS LL version 11.5 JP. I was also given gateway 3ds (2 cards) and a DSTWO supercard.

The DSTWO supercard works just fine. I can play regular DS games easily. The gateway 3ds card doesn't work. I did some googling and found out I need to be on version 4.5 for it to work. So I am assuming that the gateway 3ds is just a light tiny paperweight now. Is there any hope for a new 3ds LL on 11.5? Or should I just try and find an old 3ds with an early firmware? A lot of posts / articles I have read are 3-5 years old. And I know that you guys know what you're talking about. I am just a little confused when I read hacking guides because its a japanese 3ds.

Softmods are the way to go these days. And you can do it for free on that firmware with JPN region.

Well, not easily. Yet. But there is a free method on 11.8 (latest) called frogminer that you should be able to do really soon.
Forget that, can't believe I forgot about the Daily Health Notebook method (that I authored about 3 months ago).
