Has anyone done this yet? My DS lite is over a year old and repeated use has finally taken its toll on my dpad. It always had the normal weak diagonals but now its in pretty sad shape.

I figure its worn out from constant use and I don't want to send it to Nintendo due to cost and the time involved to fix it.

Can I order the parts somewhere and install it myself?

Well, you can order a replacement case which would get you another d-pad, but the rubber that makes contact with the motherboard will stay the same one..It sounds like the rubber has become softer..You can try to replace the d-pad, but I don't think it'll solve your problem..

Replacing the d-pad is a bit tricky, but isn't that hard..Check some guides online on disassembling DS Lite..
