PS1/2 i think the ps2 network adapter i got came dead in the mail

i got really bored this week so i decided to spend a good amount of money on things that i could use to mod my ps2. everything seems to work except for the network adapter. i tried it out every way i could but nothing seems to work... i can see marks of the person who had it before me and that they tried to clean it... im rather pissed off that i waited all this time for this stupid adapter and it doesn't work... i am posting here to see if there is a certain step a may have missed.

IDE or SATA? I had to set the jumper on my IDE drive in order for my PS2 to see it. Also, which app are you trying it with? Open PS2 Loader or HD Loader?

it is a IDE drive its a maxtor 250gb one off amazon .... i am not even trying to softmod it RN im just making sure everything works

the hard drive worked when i had used the apater i bought to hook it up to my pc.... but in the ps2 it wouldn't spin up

Your drive won't work out of the box, it has to be formatted properly for the PS2 to even recognize it. Even then, the PS2 won't utilize the extra storage without homebrew.

That's normal, if you're not accessing the disk the PS2 won't spin it up. You'll need a way to format it. Either by hooking it up to your computer or using HD Loader on your PS2 after softmodding it.

Works great, but does require a small IDE ribbon cable to flip the connector around.

How are you hooking it up? Externally with a USB adapter or internally? Also, you might want to check Disk Management in Windows to see if you have an unformatted drive or a drive that hasn't been assigned a drive letter yet.

well just buy it on ebay or so. Bought mine like for 10 euros
