PS1/2 I think my modded PS2 has stopped reading burned discs

The reset is refering to the detection of PS1, PS2, DVD disc. The reset version requires a number to resets if you were to boot a dvd, ps1, and ps2 disc.

The Messiah was consider one of the best chip at one time, while the Magic 3 was the cheap alternative but had many bugs/problems. The HK messiah 2 is a clone of a Magic (3.0 or 3.1) using Messiah's chip name. So what you have there is a clone of a clone. There is no configuration menu, nor chip update for that chip. The messiah chip was popular around '03. Seeing how long it has been it, and the fact that it is a cheap clone, it may of been dead.

Like I said already, your best bet is to replace the chip or software modify it with Free McBoot and reburn your PS2 games.
