Hardware I somehow got my hands on a EDEV Switch unit... What to do with it?

I'm not from the US, so I don't think it comes from Toys R Us.

I also don't see the point for an eDEV being a demo unit. Wouldn't it be easier if they just use a normal console for stuff like that?

I didn't know they use an EDev for demo units... that's very stupid...

This is the demo units used in stores for playable demos. Personally I would send it back to them because this can be seized by Nintendo. They can demand you give it to them if you don’t they can sue you and stuff. The system also shouldn’t read anything in particular in regards to the sd card. I believe it only looks for certain file names on the SD card to preform updates to the unit and add more demos

But the seller could be from US anyways no modified units are used for kiosks I know that the gameslots do not work in them and that something about the sd card is used to install demos to the unit
Could also be a sell of a sell as well once’s the seller found out it didn’t play games
