i tried the one on wiibrew, nothing... preloader tells me something about "couldnt find hacks.ini on FAT or NAND"
and i have it on my sd card (which is not SDHC) in the root as well...

i copied the hacks from wiibrew just as they are and nothing.
i made sure that the file is a ini as well...

can someone share a ini with me?

    i'm still new to the Wii scene BUT from what i can tell;

Is the pre loader an application type thing where you can boot up straight into a disk rather than the Wii menu?

Does it work with virgin Wii's?

could we install the HBC via something like this? If it booted up BEFORE the Nintendo anti-hack stuff sets in?

You need Twilight Hack/HBC to install Preloader and you can't boot backups without modchip/softmod.

just make sure when you do a hacks.ini you do it in a windows machine... it won't work otherwise... at least for me... and the ones on wiibrew should work that way [IMG]

your ini worked! dont know what was wrong with mine but hey... whatever...

now i have a funny problem... i have noticed this before,
when i turn off my wii, the video does not stop... the screen stays black... i have wiiconnect24 on...
i used to solve this by telling preloader to ignore wii connect 24 setting but then i would not get mail... its not like anyone sends me mail but still.
is there a way to fix this issue?

Like OneUP said it is an NTSC-U Wii. I doubt it has anything to do with what/why you are asking but in case it does it is an originally NTSC-U Wii that has run (in this order) Launch Day System Menu, then 2.0, then 3.0, then 3.1, 3.2, 3.3v1, then 3.2, then 4.0. All of them were the NTSC-U System Menu versions.

Wow that's a load of bull. Dude do a bit of research. First off the install of the HBC is a softmod. so is the install of preloader. Oh wait so is the install of a CIOS. further more you may be able to accomplish the backup loadin but unfortunately the more recent revisions of CIOS are not stable enough to execute system menu so it's not really worth while to use that method. Regardless if you must post please do your research and have at least a moderate understanding of how everything works before trying to say what one can or cannot accomplish with a certain homebrew tool. thank you!

@Solcott one of them was not an NTSC U system menu. The launch day firmware was not region specific.

What was wrong with yours is that you probably used Notepad or Wordpad. On the other hand, I use Notepad++ and formatted the ini properly.

It could also be that you have extensions turned off and your file was actually called "hacks.ini.ini".

As far as the video issue is concerned, I don't think it's the Wii. It's more likely that your TV is still detecting an input when you shut the Wii off.

hmmm interesting, i dont think its the tv because when i turn the wii off until it is red, my screen is ok, but if it is yellow, my screen stays black...

and about your ini, i did use notepad, that may be the mistake, but i took care to save it in the propper format, none the less, that is not a problem anymore [IMG] THANK YOU!
