Anno 1701: Dawn of Discovery. Realtime Strategy, but with a strong focus on economy and laid-back gameplay. While the series is pretty well known in EU, I don't think its very popular in the US.

Yatterman DS and Yatterman DS 2.
Bomberman 2,they never released it outside of Japan and Europe.
Ketsui Death Label - Kizuna Jigoku-tachi,shmup kinda like Touhou.
Meccha Taiko no Tatsujin DS/Taiko no Tatsujin DS,Drum Hero so it's good.

Well, since Yatterman was posted, I have to mention the Shin-Chan series. These games are pretty fun. The language barrier isn't even a hurdle.
