I've been working on a save converter for retro game consoles, and I just added support for N64 files. My goal is to make all the saves on sites like GameFAQs usable in modern emulators or using modern tools to use them on real hardware.

N64 files are really weird because they're either found in Wii Virtual Console format, or in DexDrive format. Previously, for Wii VC files you'd need to use 2 different tools to get the file into a format loadable by an emulator, and with DexDrive files if they contained a cart save you'd need to use a hex editor.

But this tool outputs files that are directly readable by an emulator (or writable to real controller paks or cartridges) with no extra steps required.

Now you can unlock all the courses in Mario Kart 64 without having to play everything, or unlock all the cheats in GoldenEye or Perfect Dark. Or unlock expert mode in Star Fox 64.

Let me know what you think!
