Hacking I´m on 5.1.0 and asked to update after inserting a micro sd card, why is that?

I did that update and i´m still on 5.1.0.
Can anyone explain why that was necessary and what it did?

This popped up because you needed to install an update to add exFAT support to your console. Nothing to worry about.

No, it's not formatting your micro sd card. It adds exFAT support to your switch console, so you can use this file system.
