Guys im completly lost.. I dont understand all this fancy lingo about CIOS and other stuff.. all I want to do is soft-mod my Wii to run my backup games that i made from my original copies.

Anyways im completly lost so ill tell you what i did...

So I got the bannerbomb thingie.. ran the 3 programs that come with it everything installed just fine....
Now after that on Homebrew channel i ran Gecko(tried different versions) they all say "NO DVD" even tho I clearly have a dvd inside and the game runs fine on my pc emulator...I also tried using the Install Backuploader Channel but they same problem arose...I also tried watching a simple movie and the same problem!
Its like Dvdx wasnt even installed even tho bannerbomb said it did....
I tried installing Dvdx off the HBC but it keeps saying "No ticket stub" or w/e... arrg!!!

Can someone tell me what im doing wrong? I would really appreciate it.

It sounds like you still need to install a back-up launcher and a cIOS.
What is installed on your wii?

cIOS is a custom system file for the Wii that allows it to read backup discs. Needless to say, you need to have one installed.

Dvdx only lets you play Dvd movies, it does nothing for Wii backups. Also, you'll need to make sure your Wii games are backed up on DVD-R discs not DVD+R discs (the Wii can't read +R unless you change the booktype which is a setting in more advanced burning applications).

This is why I just stick with hardmodding, too much crazy technical software shit.

Good luck figuring out what you need to do though lol

What version are you on? 4.0?

Gecko OS is for running retail discs region free. You need a backup loader like Neogamma, and one of Waninkoko's cIOS to go with it. There are plenty of guides around on how to do that on 4.0.

Do you get an error code? If so, post it.

You should update the cIOS to at least rev9 or higher.
As for changing booktype it depends on what burning software you are using.
It will be in the options somewhere.

To change the booktype, download Imgburn. It's a free burning app and you can grab it over at imgburn.com .

Once you get to this screen...

Click the little book icon in the bottom right. It will bring up a list of drive manufacturers, pick yours (if yours isn't listed then just go through all of them one by one and look for the one that doesn't give you an error... it's rare, but sometimes a DVD burner just doesn't support booktyping in which case you need a new drive or some DVD-R discs). Then on "Change For" select DVD+R and in "New Setting" select "DVD-ROM". Then you just click OK and click the burn button.

It's not a permanent setting, it gets reset back to default whenever you reboot your computer so you'll want to check the booktype setting every time you go to burn a disc.

As for watching movies, I'm not positive. My TV has a built in DVD player so I never bothered with DVDx. I could take random guesses at the answer, but you're better off asking someone who actually has a clue on that matter [IMG]

    1. MAKE A BACKUP OF YOUR NAND WITH BOOTMII. SAVE THIS FILE SOMEWHERE SAFE (you can only do this if your bootmii is installed to boot2)

    2. Search on google for waninkoko cios or something along those lines. (rev10 or higher)

    3. Install the cios with Wadmanager.

    4. Download Neogamma and place it in the apps folder on your SD card

    5. Open Neogamma and launch your game.
