Desktop version is slightly faster...by 3 seconds-ish.
Plus the OS is different for laptops and desktops if I recall correctly.

are you talking about tablet mode? you can toggle it either on a tablet\laptop or desktop

Just use Win8.1 with Classic Shell. It has Fast Boot without ads and spying.
