I have computing homework where I had to finish writing a program over half-term... and with only two days left and still not finished.... I've cracked my screen. Now the only computer in the house with Visual studio on is gone :/

If my parents find out the screens cracked, I'm dead.

So all I can do now is use my really old laptop, which is too old to run visual studio... and keep the broken screen hidden until I can save up enough money to repair it.. [IMG]

Not to sound like a downer, but shouldn't this be in the blogs section?

    I agree.
And just how the fuck do you crack a screen? I've had the same laptop for six years and it's still frickin new. And I bring it every where too.

    Well said.

A lot of parents will put in the extra money to repair / for a new computer if you really need it for school.

I take it from your choice of IDE, you're using C# or Visual Basic?
Well I can't really help too much other than to say: either grab a caddy, or some other way of accessing the data on the laptop with a broken screen - recover the data etc..
or, find a VGA (or DVI with newer laptops) compatible monitor, and hook that up, and try and get your coursework finished.

as for telling your parents? you have nothing to lose, and lots to gain, you might as well give it a shot.

He's right, just explain it to your parents properly and they will understand what happened. Don't keep secrets to your parents or it will get worse than you thought.

wow same problem here.. except that the inverter of my laptop broke... and i need it for class
its done this before and i told my parents and im getting a new one

tell your parents what happened, sure your laptop broke but im sure they will rather pay money to get you a new one than see you fail something

and for your data i suggest getting an external HD enclosure and stuff the old HD in there
