First of all my xBox 360 is a slim with the 2.0.16756.0 dash.

I want to know if there is any way for me to keep live whilst being able to use linux. Is there any way to do this?

You'll have to dual NAND it.
But honestly, you're way better off getting an Ouya to run Linux on.
    Or a PS3.

Linux for the 360 hasn't been updated since 2006 and your only pick is Gentoo and Ubuntu.

So, does the dual NAND thing require extra hardware? This is more of 'it might be fun' than 'replacing my pc' type thing.

    Yes.
You're spending roughly 100 quid on a dual NAND chip + RGH chip.

I'd say it's not worth it for a "it might be fun" Linux project.
Unless you really really REALLY want to play around with a severely outdated kernel and distro build on dated hardware.

Yah, a little pricy. I suppose I could look into it as I like the background behind this stuff.

I am hopping for some way to run linux under a 'loose' hyperviser when the console is eol.

Well, I'm no one to stop you from doing so ;p

Anyway, depending on yer slim you'll need a TX DemoN and a CR4 and possibly if their new, a POST-fix adapter as well.
Slims with 4GB of storage space cannot make use of the DemoN so Dual NANDing those won't work (you'll have to trade them for HDD consoles)

At this point I would get a second xBox 360 for this then, still costs to much.

To me it seems that the current expoit uses some timming glitch on the cpu to run the modified kernels, is this the case?

Is the dual nand thing is just two nand chips with there cs pins getting toggled?

    Yep.
RGH slows the CPU down during boot and resets it when it loads the 2BL, then it speeds it up again hoping the CPU will accept the old 2BL and boots to whatever you want, in your case XeLL.

    That's a NANDwich.
you'll have to make a switch for it yourself and what not.
