So, tomorrow I am going to buy an official Pokemon White game at GameStop (Because I want to participate in Pokemon Sundays at Nintendo World and VGC's would be fun and I can't do that with an Acekard 2i.

Here's my question.

If I play Pokemon Diamond/Pearl/Silver/Gold (Any color really) from a game using an Acekard 2i are they automatically "scanned in" as fakes? Or if I were to trade them to my real cartridge of Pokemon White and go to an official VGC tournament they will be "scanned in" as real? I heard they check at tournaments for fake pokemon..

Pokemon from a flashcart are the same as a real cart, as long as the ROM is edited in anyway (i.e. Pokemon BlazeBlack / VoltWhite), and they will be accepted.

If the poke itself is obtained in a legit way, its legit.
If you got it by cheats, in a hack, or by editing the save file with programs like pokesav, doesn't matter what game its on, hacked is hacked.

If you simply played on a clear rom without ever doing anything to it, the pokes are fine.

If the rom was an un-modified game, then everything in it is 100% compatible with a retail cartridge. Also, if you want the retail cart just for show of legitimacy, then I think you can always copy the save file from your acekard 2i and overwrite the retail cart using the guide in this link -> http://projectpokemon.org/forums/showthread.php?12405-A-tool-to-backup-HG-SS-saves
Although I haven't tried it yet, it's still useful for other things.

Methods like that only work on the DS/Lite though, since the DSi/XL/3DS disabled cart swapping.

He can use other methods to send some pokemon to the real cart (on a DSi/XL or 3DS), but not his actual game progress, so he might as well just play on the cart if that's the case.
You could still use a save dongle to copy your save from the original cartridge to the flashcard.

As I know, the rom is considered 'legal' as long as you don't edit the rom in any way or hack in any Pokémon ect. 'Legal' roms are also fully compatible with any and all retail carts, since they both have the same exact rom, they're just stored differently. My only concern is that I'm not sure whether or not you'll be allowed to use it in a competion, since people these days think flashcart=cheating :glare:

Well everyone's already answered your question but another thing I like to do is get fake pokemon through cheats/hacks/edits with Max IV's and my desired natures, then I just mate them with a ditto and I usually get a legit pkmn with my nature of choice and 3 maxed IV stats :) And it completely goes through any hack-detection method since it was hatched as an egg, the game considers it legit.

I would assume that they would notice if you were to take part in a tournament using a flashcard, so buying a retail copy is indeed a good idea.

That is good to know, thanks. :)
Np ;) Just give an Everstone to the Ditto so it can pass down the desired nature (I keep around 25 Dittos, each named after my nature and they're all from a different region for better chance at shinies!). Next give a power item (power ankhlet, power belt, etc) to your other hacked pokemon parent with all MAX IV's (mother/father doesn't matter) to choose an IV to pass down, and it will pass down 2 other IV's at random. Keep trying over and over until you get the desired IV's! It also helps to enable cheats on flashcarts to fasten the process of breeding and hatching as well.

Happy legit-ish breeding :)

There's no technical difference between a legit pokemon, and one who was hacked correctly. The problem is many people using pokesav and such don't actually understand some of the simplest shit about how pokemon stats and such are calculated, so they're not legal (flamethrower on blastoise, pokemon with all EVs 255, shit like that).

What? You can actually do that?

Also, does one of the Pokemon have to be legitimate, or can both of them be hacked?

This calls for some rabid usage of Pokesav or something.
Both of them can be hacked, it doesn't matter because the baby will be legit no matter who its parents are. Through this method you breed the perfect pokemon you want.

Exactly, there's no way to detect if a pokemon was generated via PokeSAV or anything like that. The only way to find out if a pokemon is hacked is by viewing it's information and that it's accurate, such as catching it in the appropiate region (no diglets in water for example) or things like awkward movesets ( charizard with hydro pump or a female nidorino for example). Details like these easily give away a hacked pokemon, and there are other much more detailed things people miss when generating pokemon through PokeSAV (like date met, generation caught in, secret ID, trainer ID, etc).

There's even software that detects errors like these which facilitates catching hacked pokemon when needed (usually for tourneys, contests, etc).

So to avoid the whole hassle of putting in the exact correct information in PokeSAV, I just breed pokemon eggs with hacked parents. I give the parents desired movesets to pass down, natures, IV's etc :) And well, obviously this method wont work with pokemon you can't obtain through breeding... but it doesnt worry me much because I wouldn't even have them on my team.

Agreed. I, for one, knows all the data they put in a pokemon 'file' so I know how to make a legitimate one. Whether it's EV's, IV's, Area, Trainer number(that incudes the event pkm), Nature, PID etc.
And pokesav is rather meh... Pokegen is better imo.
On topic though, if it's a rom that hasn't been modified, it's all good.

Unless the baby ends up with an impossible egg move combination.
Never had this happened to me. I don't know if that's even possible but since it's never happened to me, I can't really confirm or deny it.

but that game barely runs at native 4k

I think it was some newer games and probably poorly optimized PS4 or PS5 ports

they definitely will age better but i feel dlss might outweigh that since it looks about as good as native resolution and much less demanding

i think i heard of that, it's a good idea, shouldn't need a dedicated GPU just to run a LLM or video upscaling

They would have the same hair style the same clothes everything... Really messed with my head lol
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
@The Real Jdbye, I could see AMD trying to pull off the CPU GPU tandem thing, would be a way to maybe close the gap a bit with Nvidia. Plus it would kinda put Nvidia at a future disadvantage since Nvidia can't make X86/64 CPUs? Intel and AMD licensing issues... I wonder how much that has held back innovation.

i don't think nvidia wants to get in the x64 cpu market anyways
