I think people are scared of bricking because the 3DS is quite expensive, and they try to be careful. If it would get bricked in the first few weeks or days, it is really annoying because you just bricked a new device. When the 4DSi Lite XL++ comes in 2034 I wouldn't mind throwing my worthless 3DS out of the window.

That has got to be the most awesome name for a handheld ever. Just imagining it now.

Honestly, I don't want a 3DSxllite++.
They should just sort out the hinge wobble problem and make the area near the screens matte.
The screen size is perfect IMHO.
I don't really like my DSiXL....

If you are playing pirated games, you deserve to get your system bricked.
Fuck No.

what about people that use flashcarts to back-up games they have themselfs?
or people that ONLY use it for homebrew?

You agree with those as well just because "the government says so?" Grow up and form your own damn opinion. And Nollog is right. In a criminal case, aka one in which someone breaks a law, the harmed party can't seek retribution on their own. They can file a suit, or get over it. That's their two options. They, however, are NOT allowed to take matters into their own hands. And by the way, flash carts can also be used for homebrew. Nintendo has NO way of proving what someone is using their cart for. And THEY would be breaking laws by bricking people's consoles. It's against consumer protection laws everywhere.
Nintendo didn't seem to care about that when they started intentionally bricking korean wiis that had been region changed. I didn't hear a single whisper of anybody attempting to sue them for it either - quite surprising when a lot of those wiis went to unsuspecting US customers.

You can keep that opinion, but only if you accept that you're a dumbass. That's like saying if you pirate music you deserve to get your computer bricked.

Plus, flashcarts != piracy. I got one for homebrew and emulation of SNES and stuff like that that's not in circulation anymore. Whether it's considered piracy anymore is up in the air. And GBA ROM HACKS. I actually own a GBMicro for GBA games worth searching for and playing.

I'm not scared of using a flashcart on my 3DS, I've only used it once to test it works and I still got my DSi so I use that.

In no way in hell they gonna brick your 3DS, if some way in the future there is a way to pirate 3DS games they may block features and such on the 3DS like online. I was reading the manual the other day and there saw something if you receive a mii with ??? that is a blocked user so maybe they are able to remove/block features like streetpass.

Sure you can.
Who appointed Nintendo judge over what you do?
The government is the judge of what you are allowed to do, and piracy is illegal.
but Homebrew isen't. at least in Europe. to brick your system because u play Homebrew is against many laws. what they could do (but cant as they don't have the possibilities) to block only pirated games.
