I fear someone is leeching off my connection.

Using WPA (or WEP) with mac filtering will block pretty much any asshole trying to steal your connection. Thank god I don't have problems like that, since I live in a good residential neighborhood. Or, you could just turn your router off frequently and play with the asshole before you completely shut him out

Try to anticipate when the guy is wanking off, then cut the connection so his porno movies stop streaming. BONERKILLER!

Pretty much anyone with computer skills can get through WPA and WEP in under 20 minutes.

I doubt someone is leeching off your connection..not many people even know how to setup wireless let alone how to leech off people. I don't bother with any security because my neighborhood is chilled out. Just don't broadcast your SSID and you should be fine.

Could be spyware on your computer? are you using wireless on any devices in your house? if not turn it off

For example, all the comps on my neywork are named after AIs in the Halo universe, and my network is called CENTCOM, which means Central Communication.
But only a nerd would name their pc's like that. a normal person is just going to use a normal, memorable (to them) word.

My network is tequila, because I like to drink it. see - no nerdiness involved.

Did you just present an argument... then rebut it yourself? WTF?

There's a lot of asses in my neighborhood.

Spyware? Nah, I haven't had a infection in years now. I have safe porn sites.

Hmm.. I don't turn on WiiConnect24. I'm afraid it'll burn my Wii up.

~Ok, I'll recheck again.

Did you skip over the MAC FILTERING part, that completely blocks anyone but the most ardent hackers from getting into your network? Of course WPA and especially WEP are easy to crack, that's why you pair them with other forms of protection. Yes, and turn OFF SSID broadcasting. All of these steps together will pretty much completely protect you.

Thanks hollabackitsobi. I turned off SSID broadcasting.

But yet, I still see my Wireless light blinking. Is it possible that it's blinking for no reason?

After doing all that, it's probably just blinking to blink. Mine blinks like that sometimes late in the night, and nothing is accessing it. At this point, no one could be on your network

Alright, thanks for all your help.

Just to let everyone know, the only computers connected to my router is my computer and my brother's.

Turn off your wireless for awhile. That will cut off any bastards leeching your bandwidth. Change all your settings....router name, encryption code, turn off SSID, set MAC filtering, etc...

When you turn it back on, see how long it takes for the leecher to re-appear.

Report your issues to your ISP.

mac filtering ftw!

How do I find the MAC address of my Nintendo DS?
To find your Nintendo DS's MAC address, you will need a WiFi-enabled game for the Nintendo DS. From the official Nintendo WiFi website: The MAC address of the Nintendo DS can be found by going to the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection Setup in the game's menu. Select "Options," then "System Information." The MAC address is displayed on the top line.
