I fear someone is leeching off my connection.

I am mad.. As I am unable to get the good download speeds I did before.

Youtube still streams decently, but I am worried that someone is leeching off my router.

The past two days (And today; right now), my Wireless light on my Router has been blinking almost non stop. Except, when I go to bed after Midnight, it stops.

Is there any other way I can confirm it's someone leeching? Can I find out who it is, or can I even stop them from leeching?

I have a WEP Key on my Router, but I guess that kind of security sucks these days.

You can change the key and see if the light stops blinking so rapidly, that would more or less confirm it.

I don't dabble in wireless internet so I don't actually know how one would prevent leeching otherwise, sorry. >.>

Well, I always leave it on for my DS.

I don't know how to turn it off either.. It's on my default.

What kind of router is it? You should be able to go into the settings, and have it show a list of connected devices. You should then be able to block any IP/MAC addresses you see there that aren't yours (just make sure game systems and such are accounted for, like DS and Wii). Of course, if someone got around your WEP, they can most likely avoid an IP block, but I don't see why anyone would be that persistent.

Uhmm.. Well, it's an ActionTec router.

I haven't went into my settings since I set it up for my DS about 2 years ago.
All you do is enter your IP Address in the Address bar, correct? (I'm going to try this)

Well all the networks that I know of (me, friends who are tech nuts, etc.) have their networks and the comps on them named with code names. For example, all the comps on my neywork are named after AIs in the Halo universe, and my network is called CENTCOM, which means Central Communication.

I'm pretty sure there is a list of connections on yours.

Are you sure its the wireless tab and not the being used tab? And is your Wii in wiiconnect24 mode?

Also, are you running torrents? Your download speed depends on how much upload speed you have.

should be the homepage for your router. Look around and see if you can find whether someone connected or not.

Using WPA (or WEP) with mac filtering will block pretty much any asshole trying to steal your connection. Thank god I don't have problems like that, since I live in a good residential neighborhood. Or, you could just turn your router off frequently and play with the asshole before you completely shut him out

Try to anticipate when the guy is wanking off, then cut the connection so his porno movies stop streaming. BONERKILLER!
