See these photos? Well they're not photos. They're photorealistic paintings.

That is some top notch stuff. Even if they were photos they'd be amazing, but this is just unbelievable.

The fact that there are people in this world with such insight, talent, and patience astounds me to no end.

Even amidst all these new forms of digital art, this is proof that the ol' paint and canvas is still the king when the talent is there!

The second one looks like it's part of a PS3 cutscene, but the rest really do look realistic. Really talented people in this world. Truly an inspiration to me as I begin my 3D work in a few weeks.

No one on the net can prove it to you. You either believe it or you don't.

Paintings like these are possible, you know.
Maybe not so much with traditional brushes, but with other methods like airbrushing, etc.

Visit some of the links and determine for yourself.

As an artist, I FUCKING HATE PHOTO-REALISM.

That's right, I sit back for about 2 seconds and appreciate the technical skill involved, but then vomit on the idea that the artist only created what could be captured with a camera. It's only when an artist achieves this technical ability, that I question why they don't inject imagination to create something truly breathtaking. If an artist paints something that I can take a picture of, I could care less. But if they paint something that only exists within their mind, then I'm truly floored.

These pictures are boring. If somebody painted them, then they are wasting their talent and time. Show me something that doesn't exist, something that a camera couldn't possibly capture, and only then will I be interested. This is like the crapfest realism that won first place at the state fair (California). NEXT

You have a very valid argument... i agree. Awesome, but make something really amazing.

The links to the respective artists' webpages are under the pictures. You can check their portfolios, galleries, explanations, tutorials, tips and tricks, etc. etc.

This gallery shows it pretty well:
