Hacking I can't access the start menu on my R4i

I have a R4I Gold 3ds.
I've used it to mod my 3DS XL, it's now back to its original setting.

I used to be able to access the start menu which would allow me to change the look and enable cheats.

I can't do that anymore.

The start button isn't broken as I can play games that use it.

Does anyone know how I can get it to work?

X brings up the Cheat menu inside Wood

When I press X it goes straight to favorites.

ok seems that Start does bring up the menu, I just tried it,
try place all the wood files back on the card overwriting the old files and see if that works

I've replaced all the fiels and I've tried tapping start and nothing has come up.

try rename the __rpg to something else, then uncompress a new copy of that

I've replaced _RPG with one from a kennel. Is that what you mean?

yeah, but rename the original one, so you have fresh files and settings

did you uncompress the __rpg folder from the zip again to the SD card?

I don't know to do that. I just moved the folder from the zip to the SD card.

doing that is fine, delete the __rpg and rename the other back to __rpg remember it's 2 underscores

I've not got a black screen so I'm going to have to try to fix that now. I think it's the kennel or I've broken my SD card somehow.

try copy all your nds roms and saves to the desktop, then format it and start fresh and see if you can get it working like that

I did that and I put the latest kennel (2013) and it doens't work. I know that it was working about an hour ago. is the kennel from 2013 the latest one?

I think that's a config thing, where if you enable "Safe mode" you can't open the Start menu. Deleting the config fixes that, and downloading the newest version probably gave you a clean config.
Also, cheats are on Y.
