Homebrew I bought a used Wii U with homebrew on it

I was looking for a Wii U on Ebay and found one I liked with controllers, the seller mentioned homebrew was installed on it.

It expectedly came with no sd card or USB storage device. But it came with only two homebrew apps on it. The homebrew launcher (V2.1) and a red warning sign labeled "DON'T TOUCH ME".

I would like install homebrew and I have some experience with the 3ds, Vita, and Switch. I would also like to have my own Nintendo ID instead of the seller's if possible.

Is factory resetting safe?

Did I somehow mess up by buying this?

I'd appreciate any help

It will brick your Wii U (for sure) !



First Thing: Please check if you have a Boot Message when you power on the Wii U like this:

Autobooting is fine,so it seems you really have ColdBootHaxchi installed.
Did you had an SD Card delivered too ?

Please do not skip one Step !

Before you start,note a few Points please:

If you have your Wii U then in the "Original" State:

Requires a legitimately installed paid DS Virtual Console game from the eShop.

You need a PURCHASED (from the Wii U eShop) exploitable Game for doing a Re-Modding
if you change the User ID/Name !
It does no longer matters,if the Pre-Owner had purchased it,when you change the ID/Name/User,you need a NEW one.
So you should maybe reconsider your Wish to Change it.


Replacing the SD Card on your current State is easy,you only need to Copy your Applications on a FAT32 formatted SD Card.
If you need Assistance for this,please let us know.

No. Iirc, user accounts in the wii u start at number 80000001.

I can not asure you,the Uninstalling goes well,nobody can do that.

According to this GBAtemp Thread it should work.


EDIT: Oh,it is for Haxchi,so better wait for Confirmation from one of our Wii U Experts.
I think as long as you NOT DELETE the Account,it should work.

Why not just make a new account for yourself and ignore the previous users account?

The prev users account will still be choosable when you power it on but you don't choose it to play with. Your new account will be there and you simply select that one to use when you power on.

I have my 3 kids on my wii u and all the accounts have the same access to every mod i have done, they simply choose their own account when they want to play. It's not as though I'm an admin account, thatbcan be set by limiting the other accounts with parental controls but as i say, just leave the old account there and ignore it!
