Recovery won't work, everything on his 3ds won't work since it has n3ds files and a hardmod won't work unless he made a backup

Sorry to hear you bricked your 3DS. Don't be discouraged from trying to downgrade again though. It honestly isn't difficult at all and I'm certain that if you had used the correct files everything would have been fine

    If your throat closes, putting oxygen in your mouth will not solve anything - as you will be introducing oxygen prior to the area of obstruction
