When I was young I tried to hack my 3ds with no succes, but now when I tried to delete all the weird things I downloaded my 3ds won't start again. The blue light just turns on for like 2 second and turns off again, no popping sound. The only files I still have are "nintendo 3ds" and "DCIM". How can I get my 3ds working again without hacking it?

1) You said you tried to hack it, depending on the method you used you may need to 'hack it' to fix it as files may reside on it that are needed to boot.
2) To try data recovery, put the SD card into write protect mode to prevent any writes and try some data recovery software.

In the past I used 'getdataback' but this is commercial, although it may also allow you to recover just enough in trial mode.

I would suggest looking up the method you tried in the past to see what should reside on the SD card, it may be as simple as just a single boot file.

Thank you, but is it possible to restore it without hacking?

You said you "tried to delete all the weird things I downloaded". If your 3DS isn't booting because you deleted something, then if you follow the instructions in the links I posted, that will make it boot again.

If you're certain that you never hacked your 3DS, then it doesn't matter what you did to the SD card. People lose their SD cards one way or another all the time and it won't suddenly make your 3DS stop booting - unless the 3DS has been improperly hacked.

Okay this is everything I recovered, is there something useful in there? Because I still can't start my 3ds when putting it in

Yea the problem was that I got an error on my 3ds when I tried to open the Estore and on the internet it said it was something with the files so I tried deleting them. But so I need to hack my 3ds to get it working again? I can't just reset it or something

your 3ds is hacked INTERNALLY, it is hacked so that it will attempt to boot from the sd card or not boot at all, so deleting the hacks off the sd card are just going to make the situation worse as the INTERNAL hacks will not find anything to boot, so by putting boot files on to the 3ds you are not "rehacking" it, you are simply giving the internal hacks something to do with. once you get your 3ds booting into hacks, they CAN be removed but there is simply no reason to do this as they will not lower the performance of your device in any way, the performance will remain unchanged unless you decide to use the capabilities of the hacks which will allow you to get much out of your 3ds.

once you get hacks working i would update luma and update/get b9s, as well as following the guide on how to copy boot files to the internals of the 3ds, allowing it to run without an sd card, once that is done, if you want a clean slate, use fbi to delete unecessary titles off your sd card and use tinyformat to format your 3ds (leaving hacks intact)

Your 3ds was modded, thus deleting Luma3DS (boot.firm) won't allow the 3ds to boot. Although it should atleast show an Arm11 error and not what you're describing. My guess it's either 'cause you're on a9lh, or there's some other hardware issue (coincidentally?)..
What happens when you turn it on without the sd card? Same thing?

No. If the 3ds boots fine without the sd card, you can access Luma3DS menu and see which version you have, If it's v.7.0.5 or lower, follow this to update to b9s. After that you can update Luma3DS to the latest latest version as well as system fw.
If it's higher than v.7.0.5 then no need to update to b9s, just get the latest Luma3DS on the root of your sd card and test again.

It would help if you shared with us what you did and what was the culprit, mainly for future readers (that're experiencing similar issues).
Yea at the end it wasn't that hard, I had wiped my boot.firm which caused my 3ds to stop starting. So just downloading the latest version of Luma 3ds zip file (link here) and copying boot.3dsx and boot.firm to the SD card did the job.

With a pc use a data restoration app (i recommend recuva but you can use other app) I don't guarantee that ALL the data will be recovered, but In my case it did.

Here in USA, you can call different car junkyards and find a used window to save money, but not sure in your country. That does seem expensive.

In the US you can also say a bird shit on my window and get a new car

You can ask scrapyards for whole windows here too but they usually don't have the make and model.

the problem is that it needs the engine and the whole stuff, it's an old car so it's better to just get a new engine for the window (and the other stuff they mentioned).

How often should you replace thermal compound on CPU? It's been like 3-4 years for me. Not overheating but just curious.

    5-8 years probably

ok cool, i can wait a few more then. Prob just build a new one by then.

Usually if thermal paste gets that dry your pc will turn on but you can monitor temps going up
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
My temps are the same, i have a water cooler also. it's just a pain to pull all apart just to grease it up again. I'll just wait. 3-4 year old PC is ancient nowdays anyways, been itching to build another but I don't game or do much on it anymore.

@BigOnYa, How long it takes for thermal paste to dry out depends on what it's made from, ironically higher performance thermal paste typically dries out the fastest. Some in a year.

Just depends if temps skyrocket if it's fine no need to worry
