Hypothetically speaking, if you had/have a child would you let him/her with a male childcare assist?

I've personally never noticed men working in childcare and even when it does happen, it tends to be somewhat of a rarity. I guess parents in general feel safer if their child are looked after by a female.

Does it matter to you the gender of the childcare employee you'd have/hire for your child?

Personally, I wouldn't really care if it were a male or female assistant as long as he/she would do the job.

Me. Sure, never would even occur to me and I don't think I have ever heard others express any kind of preference here. I am sure there are some which believe the scare stories or think a nurturing environment can not be provided but that would very much be the exception.

Going further. I have noticed a general lack of males in such a role as well (I have dealt with a few pre schools and nurseries), this despite endless ones being in fairly low skill roles (the sort of thing you can get into with a DBS check, a willingness and maybe a 30 day course or some previous experience) with other often extremely vulnerable people. At the same time sports centres here which serve similar roles (places for parents to drop their screaming crotch fruit off for a few hours/evening/day and get on with life) employ a fair mix, possibly even skewing slightly more male.

I'm quite quick at judging people, and I would chose the one who I get the right feelings for. If it would be a guy or a girl wouldn't matter, as long as they seem trustworthy and get along with both me and the child.

I only choose someone I know well, regardless of gender. Women can be as disgusting as men and my default is to not trust anyone until they prove to be trustworthy.

In my opinion, (most) men who want to be around children are weird. It sounds extremely sexist, but (most) women have an innate gift to care for children. I honestly wouldn't want a male person to care for my child, may just be my paranoia though.

In the states its definitely a female dominated industry. Men are treated like pedophiles if they're interested in working with children.

Because everyone thinks that if man works at childcare, he's a pedophile hungry for sma-
In reality, he's a fluffy man which cares about child's smiles and is experienced as a dude which takes care of kids. Toddler, i'm correct?
People are too quick to judge, I personally would let them go there if i trusted him enough.

It's an average, and from experience, I can say they're a little too friendly 60+% of the time.

Only if it is family. I'm part Mexican, so I don't outsource childcare. ;)

Idunno, I don't have kids. But I find that most mothers will focus on protecting their children, while fathers have more of a focus of challenging their kids to better themselves. And you would want child care workers to focus on your kid's safety first, which may not come as naturally to most men.

It's really sad you even have to ask this question.

Why the fuck does gender matter, so long as they're qualified and good at their job? Women's organizations these days make a huge fuss about gender equality in working environments, which I'm all for, but the second a question like this comes up, where those roles are reversed... Welp, there you go.
