Suspected escaped Russian spy whale Hvaldimir was found dead. Originally noticed along the Norwegian coast in 2019 with a harness and camera reading "St Petersburg" - the whale quickly became popular due to his penchant for interacting with humans - including playing fetch.
His name is a combination of Norwegian Hval (whale) and Vladimir Putin due to his alleged prior spying activities.
He had been tracked and intermittently fed for years by non profit groups and reportedly was in good health until this recent discovery.
