Humble to permanently remove all Linux and Mac versions of games from Humble Trove

Humble Bundle logo 2.png

As Humble changes how its Choice bundles work, there's going to be a certain adverse effect for customers. Having notably offered Linux and Mac versions of games since even its very first Humble Indie Bundle, the cross-platform offerings will be limited going forward, at least, when it comes to Humble Trove.

Humble Trove is a perk given to Humble Choice subscribers, and comes with over 70 DRM-free titles for players to access. Usually, these games, if they have a Linux or Mac version available, will be included as an option. However, starting on February 1, as Humble moves to its new launcher, all non-Windows DRM-free versions of games offered through Humble Trove will no longer be available to download.

Humble has notified users by telling them they have a limited time to grab the Linux and Mac versions of any games in the Humble Trove, before they lose access for good. Meanwhile, the Windows versions of the DRM-free games will still be available, through the new Humble launcher as part of the Humble Games Collection, which appears to exist as a replacement to Trove, and will be an app exclusive to Windows.

Really? Please name a laptop getting as good battery life as a MacBook.

I don't have one myself, but it really does seem like Apple has everyone outclassed in terms of battery efficiency right now.

Okay, I'm wrong, fine. Let's move on and drop it. Thanks. I'm sick of being called out more than once.

Apple products are still too bloody expensive. No defending that.

Removing downloads for games that people have already paid for doesn't inspire confidence even for me as a Windows gamer. Also, the move toward a launcher for "DRM-free" games doesn't sound good at all. I'll stick to GOG and whatever other platforms don't require me to install anything but what I paid for.

Asus Literally All of them out perform macs in Battery and Power.
Acer Lightweight Thin series Gives about the same Power and DWARFS Macs on Battery life
Dell once again the entire line up is Compareable or outperforms

This wasnt hard at all and Linus brings the receipts on them.

ARM in general is more power efficient than x86, when ARM becomes more mainstream outside of the Apple ecosystem we'll see many laptop reaching and even surpassing the M1's battery life at a much more affordable price. The new Snapdragons are already looking very promising.

Do back up these claims with some test data please. I don't doubt that an x86 machine can outperform a MacBook, but I highly doubt they they will do so at a comparable energy efficiency.

The point is, regardless of platform, people should be able to enjoy games. Mac vs PC gets to be a petty war just like PlayStation vs Xbox. People should have the option to enjoy what they want on the platform they want, and it's scummy of Humble to just toss the Linux and Macos versions of games when they're still offering the Windows ones.
The only correct way to play any video game is MS-DOS and that's final.

Fixed.
Anything Apple should be shunned until they stop getting into politics to ban/stop right to repair bills and stop with their antitrust behavor
my take on fixing the post
but seriously Tm cook needs a slap on the wrist (more like handcuffs) and jailed and fined for his egregious behavior and anti competitive ways apple practces but that'll never happen with crapples legal team illegally throwing mllions at judges like some overprced stripper, the US justice system imo is corrupt to it's core

Don't bother, I'm clearly in the wrong for bashing Apple. Mac OS being superior is subjective at best. I'm done with this shit of trying to justify my not liking Macs.

For not wanting to continue the discussion you sure seem to like continuing. I opted not to respond earlier because you clearly mentioned not wanting to continue and I respected that, but doesn't seem like the words match the actions.

Nobody is forcing you to defend not liking macs. You can dislike them as much as you want for any reason you want really. But it's disingenuous to pretend like there are no upsides to using such a platform.

In the end people make their own informed decision though and some get an x86 some get a Mac and both options are equally valid.

thats what happens when you put a mobile chip in a laptop

fyi there are plenty of laptops that have been on par with the latest macbooks with similar/smaller batteries

also amds new ryzen obile chips apparently going to do 24hour battery life in a laptop like 20% more effeciency lets see how that goes

I'll just shut my mouth then. I just think Apple products are overpriced
I always see you putting us Mac users down. I use a Mac because I find it a much better user experience compared to Windows. I've used Windows since 3.11 and each version makes it harder and harder to do what I call simple tasks.

People should be allowed to use whatever computer makes them productive without being put down. If people want to also game on a Mac, let them.
