Thread basically.
I have a regular 120gb hdd installed on a slim case working on my rgh'd x360 e and I want to upgrade it with a bigger one.
I read this in ixtreme forums:
Install new internal hard drive
Boot to MS dash (hold down RB while booting or after pressing home button)
Navigate to storage
Format
Your partitions are now there
Avatar support
Check in MS dash the dash version you have dont mess this up!!!!
Download the correct system update
Copy the $systemupdate folder onto usb stick
Rename the folder to $$ystemupdate
Unsert the usb stick
Quick update will happen returning support

Now all you have to do is transfer all the content off the old drive onto the new drive let me know if your struggling with that.
I guess that is correct as is a reputable source but the transfer part is what is worrying me.
Can I connect the old hdd to my pc, do a backup with xplorer360 and then restore it to the new drive or the only option is to ftp/usb all the content back??

Thanks :)

As long as you do not try restoring things at partition level then xplorer360 should do it, personally I would have gone with FTP though as it is easier from where I sit (assuming you have space on the hard drive to hold what you need to hold). That guide there is accurate as far as I can see, personally I would not have bothered with avatar support but that will also give you that back.

The only thing that might be missing is the original xbox compatibility partition (or a hacked version of it) if you want that support. They might do it automatically now though. If not find the hacked version of the original xbox emulator and follow the install instructions for it.

FTP is good but slow(using wifi n, direct cable should go faster but not that much. 10/100 ethernet port), I transfer small games(small being less than 2gb) that way and anything else through a external usb drive. but transfer 100gb of data is a little too much and faster/safer to do on a pc though usb 3.0.

oohh and the xbox originals compatibility is no problem, I myself added the partition and necessary files on my current hdd. I like to do my homework and ask just the necessary.

thanks for the help :yaysp:

are you using haxchi, tiramisu or aroma?
  • crafthp434 @ crafthp434:
    yeah
  • NinStar @ NinStar:
no, I'm asking which one of them you are using
  • crafthp434 @ crafthp434:
    aroma
  • NinStar @ NinStar:
in that case, there is no such thing as homebrew launcher for aroma
  • NinStar @ NinStar:
you have to launch your homebrews directly from the wii u menu
  • NinStar @ NinStar:
there is a plugin that display them on the wii u menu, pretty sure it is enabled by default
  • crafthp434 @ crafthp434:
    so like it doesnt exist
  • crafthp434 @ crafthp434:
    yeah
    ?
  • NinStar @ NinStar:
it doesn't exist, at least not for aroma
  • crafthp434 @ crafthp434:
    ohhhhh
  • NinStar @ NinStar:
on tiramisu you can access it by opening mii maker
  • crafthp434 @ crafthp434:
    okay
  • NinStar @ NinStar:
I don't have a wii u anymore to test it myself, but if homebrews are not visible on the wii u menu I think you can press L + R + minus to open the plugin menu, there should be an option called "homebrews on wii u menu" or something similar
  • crafthp434 @ crafthp434:
    nope
  • crafthp434 @ crafthp434:
    it is L+dpad down+ select
  • crafthp434 @ crafthp434:
but homebrew is appearing in the home menu btw
  • NinStar @ NinStar:
    yes, now I remember it
  • NinStar @ NinStar:
then it is working, I also don't like that they did this but it is the only option you have if you are using aroma
  • crafthp434 @ crafthp434:
i just didint know the homebrew launcher didint exist in aroma
  • crafthp434 @ crafthp434:
