Hello to all

I have a big problem with launching my Unity game for the wii u with LoadiineGX2 because I get a black screen

I heard that it was necessary to set up the good files

If you develop a game for WiiU in Unity, you have to use the official SDK!

The problem is: The Unity of WiiU doesn´t give you "standard" files like you would expect it. Instead it gives out a certain WUX.file or something like that which isn´t compatible with "standard WiiUs" but only with SDK-WiiUs. If you aren`t having the official SDK you cannot decrypt this file in Unity itself.

Thus you can´t use it.There are tools which can decrypt such files but i doubt you will be able to run the files in LoadiineGX2 in the end.

Or in short:

If you develop in Unity WiiU (tm), your files are not compatible with Loadiine!

Loadiine-ready filess are special files! Loadiine is a special program for PC, which just was lucky to work (in early) for WiiU too. Loadiine is very outdated on WiiU and was discontinued long ago.

And yes you were right:

You´ll need 3 folders with 3 special files in it to make it work.

You need the folder "code", "content" and a "meta"-folder.

The "code"-folder contains the RPX.-file, Which is the exe file of the WiiU-machine. It also contains some other files and linking-files. And most importantly: It contains a "cos.xml"-file which is the DRM-file of Wiiu. This file tells the WiiU with which rights your file will be executed.

The "Content" folder contains all necessary data of your game/program etc. Nothing special here.

And the "meta folder" contains the three start-items you´ll need in order to be able for the WiiU to accept the file at all! It contains some .tga-graphics-file which is the start-picture of the game/program. It contains a start-sound in btfrs-format or something like that.

And it contains another file which i don´t know right now.

Each WiiU-application needs an appropriate "Title-ID" in order to be able to be accepted by the WiiU itself. In the file "Cos.xml" it tells you how each application´s Title-ID was created and what the number is.

Loadiine-files aren´t using Title-IDs. so they are completely different compared to official files.

as far as I know, some developer of the time managed to make it work in this forum with the official SDK

I have used several ways for that, but it is the same case

the sdk creates a type of application Wux crypter, then what is the name of this famous tool to decrypt it


I dunno the exact name of the tool. But yeah i remember it was something with "WUX-decrypter". But if it doesn´t work, it means your file isn´t compatible and cannot be used.

Remember the WiiU was only supported in CERTAIN Unity-versions!

So you simply cannot use a brand-new versino of it and create a WiiU-game out of it. Doesn´t work. Since WIiU-support ended years ago!

You need an appropriate version with all valid plugins.

I think the other guy didn´t use the official SDK. I think that guy didn´t even have an SDK to begin with!

Remember what an SDK is! I don´t mean the software only dude. I mean the hardware-kit as well!

Since only with that you can program for Unity for WiiU! Since that´s the only way you even get a licence for Unity for WiiU. You need the official Hardware SDK as well. Not just the software.


And i think that old guy exported some files and in the end used the correct Unity-version (he made that mistake to use a non-supported Unity version). And somehow he made a workaround or something. Or got it working then since he could then- with another version export it.It`s too old.

if you can tell me how to redo the .tga and convert them into wup installerGX2 application file to include it in the wup application file, or quote me a tool for that

You can directly export the code content and meta folders from unity wii u that worked in loadiine. I remebmber doing it. I think there is some option while exporting or a dropdown box. I will write it here once i am back at my PC

Hi, im back. you have to change the build options like the screenshot below

When the build finishes you should have a code, content, meta, _AOT, _Intermediate and temp folder. Delete all the folders except the code, content and meta folders, and also delete the .cmd files. In the code folder there should be some dll files and a .map file, you can delete those as they are leftovers from the build process. Copy those folders into a folder in your loadiine directory. Keep in mind it might take some time for the game/app to start. The icons, the banners, title ids are all autogenerated. Sorry for responding so late after making the original post, my PC was updating and i had some work to do. Also make sure that you have the official SDK's folder saved in a enviroment variable as CAFE_ROOT.

If you change the game icon in the unity settings it will be automatically converted to the right format and exported to the right place. Same with the banners

my icon is a .png which is 128 by 128 pixels and uses the same background as the TV and the gamepad

I have an obsession to compile a game for wiiu and I fully understand that nintendo wiiu is already discontinued
but in these days of pandemic I would like to compile a game in which I am working.
I have the SDK and the latest version of unity 2017 with the export package for wiiu
but I am having some error. the contents of the files (content, meta and code) fry my console .. and I tried the .rpx files and the screen goes black
I have a modified WIIU, I know it is illegal but, what I have is for internal use without commercial purposes ...
I'm having problems with some files, the .rpx runs in the cemu emulator and I would like some format that I can install in a homebrew launcher, someone can give me a cable ...

It's impossible to have the game exported in the homebrew-launcher format. You can indeed build the unpacked, or loadiine-ready format. And from there, you can build a WUP that you can install on your home menu.

What i'm not sure though is if you can add any form of Networking (without using the Nintendo Network API) to a game made with that method...

i still get a black screen... any hint?
