I'm a movie super fan.but in summer my old PC often reports errors even when i watching movies...
so it will be nice if i can use my wii to play the movies that i download from internet. these movies are not "full hd",they are usually about 2GB if the movie length about 2 hours.
please tell me wich witch software i can do this, appreciate!!

I'm not sure about mkv, but wiimc is pretty much the most all-round player there is. If it can't play it, chances are high the wii's hardware isn't strong enough to properly stream them. [IMG]

You may want to ask the mods to delete your other topic since it's the same as this one :/

The Wii does'nt have enough cpu power to decode mkvs.

i watch mkvs in wiimc all the time streaming from a computer. not in hd of course but for a half hour tv show a 60-80mb mkv looks just as good as a standard def tv broadcast.

Use GeeXboX for Wii. It can read .mkv files.

WiiMC can play .mkv files just fine. I stream them all the time from my Mac and they play without any stuttering or audio delay. Playing from USB & SD works great too.

They all paly .mkv files. Depending on how their encoded. I have wolf rain in dual audio plays fine With Mplayer and that was with the old versions.

Now using the lastest which use'e that Ios dvd success thing. Anyhow WiiMC has much better presentation, Geexbox is good but is a bit cumbersome (interface)

Me personally i use WiiMc (cos of presentation, pointing @ screen 2 control) to play movies. BUT, and I say BUT.

MPlayer is the best for codec compatability plus u can manually set the screen size with the nunchuck which the other can't do 2 my knowledge.

I've played Batman the red hood on WiiMC response ERROR. On Mplayer no probs.

    Jus my opinion [IMG]

wiimc USED to play mkvs fine, but since the last update and the updated 202 I cant get mine to play them, it will pay the audio but not video. ive eve tried reverting to old version and old ios 202 and no luck, mplayer ce locks up on mkv files as well. I hope this gets resolved becdause it played them fine for me before but no now.

If you really want to watch mkv's on TV, you should just get a wdtv. It plays everything in 1080p, I love mine.

As posted on the other thread, this happens if the video width is > 1024. This is fixed in the next version.
