I downloaded neek2o and SNEEK+DI using ModMii, as well region-changed my Wii 2 times (i thought it would be a good idea) and when starting the neek2o WAD, I'm stuck at the "Reloading bootmii IOS!" message yet I didn't wait "that much", probably for 5-8 minutes until I did a force-shutdown. Is this is okay it takes this long to load, and if yes - how much do I need to wait?

(your tool so swag xflak)

The first time launching an emunand with neek, I would avoid using forwarders. Instead, manually make sure the bootmiineek folder is renamed to bootmii, and launch "bootmii" (really neek) from the hbc (or priiloader, or bootmii boot2, etc). The onscreen directions after using modmii to build neek or an emunand describes how to even load uneek without an SD card or bootmii folder (using usbloader gx's features menu). [p.s. Check your sd card first without making any changes, if u see a bootmiineek folder and not bootmii, then the forwarder/app was unsuccessful in its attempt to rename the folder before reloading bootmii ios, meaning the current issue is definitely the way you are loading neek)

First boot of a fresh emunand may take up to 15 min or so, usually there is one long blackscreen, then users are prompted to enter some info like console ID name, etc, then another long blackscreen before the emulated system menu loads. If 10 minutes passes and you haven't gotten past the first blackscreen something probably isn't going right.

Anyway, once you've managed to launch neek, subsequent attempts will be very quick, so u can try loading using forwarders and you'll know almost immediately whether it works or not.

Okay, I renamed the folder using WiiXplorer, and now I have to wait for 15 minutes on a black screen, or on "reloading bootmii ios" screen? Seems like everything is going just like you said (black screen after Launch BootMii)

How did u launch "bootmii"? Iirc It should halt on a blackscreen, not on any screens that's say reloading bootmii ios. First boot of a fresh emunand could take up to 15 min as it is expanding files. During this process you may notice some activity on your USB (assuming it has an activity light or u can hear it working)

Wii Menu > Homebrew Channel > HOME > Launch BootMii. It's been 25 minutes.

Oh and also, I actually copied the armboot.bin file to the bootmii folder with 2 files on the folder (from bootmii itself), and renamed the bootmiineek folder to bootmiineek(with some gibberish after it)

Hi. I appreciate your efforts in the modding scene and providing us with ModMii, but I'm wondering if you could help me specifically with emuNAND issues. I'm sure you're also aware of how little documentation there is for this topic, so I figured that I might as well try to contact you.

My specific goals are to modify my real NAND (WADs, HBC, Priiloader, etc.) as little as possible, with the exception of BootMii and Boot2. From there I'd like to treat my emuNAND as my modded Wii, with Wii and GC loaded from a USB HDD (ideally using DI and the disc channel), potentially custom themes, and virtual console injects ranging from NES to N64. My questions as of now are as follows?

1. When I rename bootmiineek, do I need to merge it with bootmii? Do I delete armboot.bin and rename armboot.bin (2)?
2. In order to load into SNEEK directly from Boot2, do I need to install anything else onto my real NAND besides BootMii Boot2 (and maybe BootMii IOS? I have both already just in case)? Ideally I want to boot into SNEEK, and only have a switcher (hidden away in the far right of my main menu) that goes back to the real NAND to keep the main menu clean (basically only games and their corresponding forwarders if applicable)
3. I've heard that N64 VC injects potentially have compatibility issues when using emuNAND, and such compatibility issues aren't present when using real NAND. Is this true, and is there a list where I can view incompatible games?
4. Are GC games from USB compatible with DI or does it have to be from the SD card? (because I only have 2GB, the official Wii SanDisk)
5. In order to launch Wii games from DI/disc channel, does Wiiflow/USBLoaderGX need to be installed (does DI only forward, or does it directly launch/play the game)?
6. What does Open Homebrew Channel do differently from regular HBC, and is it necessary to modify emuNAND?
7. Should I only use ShowMiiWads to install WADs onto my emuNAND, or could I use YAWM ModMii Edition (would I have to specify/direct installation to emuNAND, or does it only affect the current active NAND)?
8. How do I install/use syscheck on emuNAND?

Please get back to mii when you can, thank you.

  1. I think you’d be better served by trying to use your emunand without neek via your usbloader; and only use neek in the few cases where this doesn’t work
  2. No, your “bootmii” folder to actually launch bootmii is different from the folder to launch neek
  3. No, if you have bootmii installed as boot2, it will launch whatever is in your bootmii folder at startup (whether it actually be bootmii or neek)
  4. AFAIK there’s just 2 or 3, bejewelled 2 and something else
  5. I don’t recall TBH
  6. No
  7. Open HBC is basically the same as the HBC except it has some improvements that only impact vWii, so it should make no different for Wii. It’s not necessary on emunand unless you want to use it while in neek
  8. Only use showmiiwads
  9. In theory just run the app while booted into neek, but this might not be a great use of time when you can just open the emunand using showmiiwads and have it display info on all the installed contents. Not like you need cIOS installed to emunand anyway so what are you trying to check?

If there's a better person to talk to or a better thread to consult, please direct me there (I understand that you're not the author of NEEK, just supporting it through ModMii. I'm just not sure where I can go with advice for this stuff since its so rare to find anything about it online).

I've been trying to exhaust all resources I can find to troubleshoot and achieve desired (or close enough) results. The end goal is similar, but I've given up on using DI for GameCube since I haven't found any modifications to that module (maybe DIOS MIOS could launch GC games from DI, but I still need to look into it). Other than GameCube games working properly and forwarder channels, I'd want to do the same things with VC injections on a separate NAND.

I've successfully booted from Boot 2 and even merged my own extracted NAND with files generated by ModMii, but even with fresh files directly from ModMii, I've failed to boot into Neek2O whenever I'm trying to use wbfs filestructure, and I only just booted into it again after I discovered that I could organize my game files using fst (SNEEK format) directly from WiiBackupManager. Though I was able to boot now, the same issue that's been preventing me from playing Wii games (it worked before on fresh files, but now it won't) showed up again, that being the DI menu not showing up when holding 1 and the Wiimote disconnecting (lights are on, but the cursor disappears and I can only use the Wiimote again by rebooting). Also, if I avoid using the DI menu at all and launch the game, it will have a black screen (still signal to TV, just not loading the game).
