Homebrew How to use a sd card larger than 2gb in homebrew for wii?

Hi. I installed the hombres channel a couple of months ago and it works just fine. But I want to add some games and the sd card keeps saying there is not enough space. I try to use a 16gb sd card but is not even recognized. How can I use a arguer sd card to have more games on it?

From what I can see, you are trying to put games on the SD card instead of the USB?
Usually, the games are on the USB or HDD.
Are you dumping the games?
Is the SD card formatted properly?
Does it have all the required files?
On my Wii, my homebrew works with my 16GB and 32GB SD cards.
Get a professional's help.

Some sd cards aren't compatible, Sandisc is the most compatible card for wii. The sd card should be formatted to Fat32, and the file limitation of Fat32 is 4GB.
If you have a game that is larger than 4GB you can use a program called WiiBackupManager for windows, it will split the files for you, also, most backup loader dont read wii games from sd, you will need a usb for that.

Also loading time from SD card is very (very) slow compared to USB HDD.

I'm using a 64GB Sandisk Extreme Pro SD card and there is not the slightest problem.

I'm using a Sandisk 16gb SD card and it works perfectly I keep my GameCube, Snes, and N64 backups on it as well as my homebrew channel and apps.

I used it will format a 2Tb drive correctly and an SD card also. As long as your card is compatible with the Wii then this will work.

The file is called guiformat.exe but I can't post a link.

You shouldn't need anything to format an SD card as FAT32. None of them are over the size limit. Just make sure it's not exFAT.

Micro SD XC sd cards need the fat32 format tool. It depends on the sd card type. Anything over 32GB which mostly goes to the XC can't be formatted to fat32 by windows format tool. Then again, the wii sd card slot isn't stated by nintendo to support anything higher than 32GB size cards, but it should work as long as you can format it to fat32.

Yup, exactly what I found to be the case and said a couple of posts above. I also used the ridgecrop tool to format my 64gb usb sticks and keep my Wii and GG backups there,

That's why you use Panasonic's SD format tool instead, MS's own SD format tools are hot garbage.

If you are referring to Greywolf's last reply, then he is right, you can format a 16G SD to Fat32 in Windows 10 natively. Windows will only not format anything larger than that to FAT32.
Windows FAT32 limit is 32G (for formatting)
