Hello.

Beforehand, this is the R4 card (R4 SDHC RTS LITE, HK) I'm using and this is the Kernel.

I just got a Nintendo 2DS and noticed that it is not possible to store 3DS games in a R4 card, unlike NDS games, that also have their .sav files stored along with the game.

1. However, is it possible to, while playing a 3DS game off the SD card, save the game on the R4 card?

The idea is to, once the system runs out of battery, take the R4 card out of the 2Ds and insert it into another 2DS, that also has the game installed, making use of the same save file.

I'm already doing this with NDS games since they are automatically saved to the folder of the .nds file, but is it possible to to with 3DS games?

2. By the way, the Kernel I'm using has a shortcut (L+A+B) to take me back to the menu. This is an issue in DiRT 2 where I can accidentally press them all at the same time.

I looked up the config files and did not find how to change that. Is it feasible?

Thanks.

I tried to change the title, since it is a bit misleading, but it was not possible after posting.

i do not want to save the games themselves, but their progress, to the R4 card.

EDIT: about the shortcut (to return to the menu) I only found this inside "globalsettings.ini": "resethotkey = 127228"

Rather than buttons, numbers? What should I replace it to, so the shortcut is at least using "R" as well?

The first thing you'll have to do is back up your save data with Checkpoint, because save data is otherwise encrypted and not transferable.

After that, I'm not entirely sure what you can do. TWiLight Menu can access flashcard contents, as in https://wiki.ds-homebrew.com/twilightmenu/installing-3ds , but I don't know if that will let you copy arbitrary files from the 3DS SD card to the flashcard and vice-versa.

You can absolutely use ftpd and another device (such as a smartphone) to copy the save data from the 3DS to another device, and then from your other device back to another 3DS. I believe you can even use 3DSync to copy the save data to Dropbox, but I haven't heard of anyone using that in a long time.

theoretically possible, as long as you have acekard/r4 ultra and that flashcart dldi works when in 3ds mode. cfw would need to mitm save functionality so games read/write from and to straight unencrypted save data, and it would need to implement flashcart dldi so that save data gets stored on flashcart microsd card instead of console sd card. but this hasn't been done that I know of, so you're out of luck at the moment

if you're ok with having to manually move files around, then yeah, backup save data with checkpoint or something, then use godmode9i which will let you copy the files from console sd card to flashcart sd card (if you dont have acekard2i or r4 ultra, you will need to run twilightmenu with autoboot slot 1 + flashcart scfg access so that godmode9i has access to both flashcart sd and console sd at once)

but then if you're manually making backups and copying files around, you might as well just use regular backup and restore methods and copy files between both consoles' sd cards instead of using a ds flashcart as middleman

your other option would be an actual 3ds flashcart (sky3ds or stargate), it will not hold save data from installed 3ds games but you can run 3ds roms directly from it, and the save data is on the flashcart alongside the roms. so once your 3ds runs out of battery, you can just put the cart into another 3ds and continue from where you left off
