    Frequently Asked Questions

What do I do with these files?

Extract them with WinRAR and rename the .DOL file to "boot.dol" and put them in "X:/apps/appname/boot.dol"

Are you sure each step is required / in the right order?

Yes Ive done this multiple times just follow the order.

A step didnt work, can I go on?

Again, NO. Especially do not upgrade to 4.0 without installing cIOS or you can not install it!

    Is my console BRICKED!?

If you have preloader and cIOS then you are fine. Turn your Wii OFF to the RED light and then hold RESET and turn it on then load the HBC and run cIOS Downgrader

Will this work with Softmii? MiiWii? etc

Theres no need to uninstall anything first. You can install CIOSCORP on 4.0 using this guide and it functions like Softmii or MiiWii

Will this work with Starfall? Preloader 0.28?

No. You MUST use Preloader 0.29. Starfall hacks wont work. Use the latest preloader hacks.ini

Do original discs work with/without CIOSCORP?

Yes. CIOSCORP and CIOS60 only affect Backup Discs

How do I fix the error when installing preloader "current IOS(36) has the fakesign bug fixed"?

You didnt use Waninkokos Updater. Downgrade with cIOS Downgrader and start from the beginning

    How do I uninstall preloader?

Downgrade with cIOS Downgrader and run Waninkokos Updater again

    How do I fix (X)?

Chances are you messed up directions somewhere. Start from Step 1!

None of your links for from teknoconsolas or whatever.
Does it matter what firmwhere I am using, or what cios I currently have? The last one i used was the one I needed to run Onslaught on wiiware.

sorry but your guide just looks like you copy/pasted assassda's guide into a new thread. the only differences are there is no link to use NUSD to download the wad needed and you changed some sentences. And I call bullshit on you saying it is more detailed [IMG]

from assassda's guide (not much of a difference at all between the two)
This is the ULTIMATE Tutorial for everything you need for System Menu 4.0
For NTSC-U and PAL only (can someone with NTSC-J PM me to confirm this?)

    Prerequisites:
    --Homebrew Channel Installed
    --SD card
    --Working Internet connection
--Read the FAQ and be prepared with a general knowledge of Wii Homebrew

    1) Run NUSD with the title "0000000100000024" and v"1042" check "Pack WAD" and hit "Start NUS Download"

    http://wiibrew.org/w/images/6/6d/NUSD_v1.zip

    2) Rename "0000000100000024.wad" to "IOS36-64-v1042.wad" and put it on your SD card X:/IOS36-64-v1042.wad

    3) Install cIOS36 rev9 using WAD install mode

    http://www.teknoconsolas.tv/wanin/cIOS36_rev9-Installer.zip

    4) Downgrade to 3.2 using cIOS Downgrader even if you are already on 3.2 run this

    http://www.teknoconsolas.tv/wanin/cIOS-Downgrader_v1.2.zip

    5) Run the 4.0 Updater

    http://www.teknoconsolas.tv/wanin/Firmware-Updater_4.0.zip

    6) Run the IOS60 updater
    say NO to install IOS61
    say YES to install IOS60
    say YES to patch IOS60
say NO to install the shop channel

    http://www.megaupload.com/?d=PN6WIJRI

    7) It is highly recommended that you install preloader to prevent bricks. On the install screen press 1

    http://crediar.no-ip.com/preloaderv0.29-cred.rar

You can now use Backup Loaders and run WiiWare from the SD Channel!

I recommend Backup Launcher 0.3 Gamma for Wii Backups

    http://www.iol.ie/~taz/backuplauncher0.3_gamma.zip

If you want Gamecube backups install the custom MIOS included and use Gamecube Backup Launcher 0.2

    http://gbatemp.net/index.php?download=5133

You can also now install the USB Loader

    http://www.mediafire.com/?wdtlz2jetne

If you want to load games from the disc channel you must install CIOSCORP

NOTE: NO ASKING FOR LINKS TO CIOS WADS
This section has some risks and is OPTIONAL
if you follow instructions you will be fine.

    1) Put WAD Manager 1.3 on your sd card

    http://www.teknoconsolas.tv/wanin/WAD-Manager_v1.3.zip

    2) Install the CIOSCORP WADs

can be found in Softmii or MiiWii packages

    3) Install CIOS60BF.wad

    google "CIOS60HK.zip"

    4) Your system menu will now say "System Files Corrupt" but dont worry! just hold reset and launch the Homebrew Channel and install Preloader 0.29 AGAIN

    5) Enable update blocker in preloader. Hold RESET and power on. Change preloader options and hacks

    For shame dude...
Only a couple of lines are slightly more detailed than assassda's, the guide is practically identical.
    You've even copy/pasted the FAQ.

EDIT: also, you misspelled safely in the topic title

Works perfect. The only change needed to have a network install of cIOS 36 in step 1 instead of a wad install. Good guide.

Guide is stolen from this thread.

Hope this thread gets closed. There is no point in copying someone else's work without crediting them.

Edit: Im sorry for bumping up this old topic, didn't realize how old it was. I just found it while trying to search for the Ultimate 4.0 guide. Please lock this thread.
